What's new

I'm no longer a Snyder fan.

I don't see how a lack of effort is on Quin. He has had some of his harshest words this season and players said the same thing. So they agree but are unable to give effort?

If effort is being continually questioned by fans and media, hell even the players themselves then Quin is 100% responsible. Effort changes from game to game and sometimes you don't need to play with the same effort as you do a harder opponent but when it gets to the stage we are currently at where once again we are questioning the effort then it turn we must question what the hell Quin is doing. If there is a clear issue with a particular player then the only way to get the message across is to bench that player and hope the replacement who may be less skilled will be willing to make the hustle plays that said player wasn't doing. Which this is the current issue, our current top 7 players can go out on the court and play with as much or as little effort as they want because their position and minutes are safe. The easy solution to that is too give a young guy with a point to prove some minutes instead and you can guarantee the effort of the team will pick up.

As for people questioning Conley again, did anyone actually pay attention against Houston. By no means his best game and could have shot better but he by far had the least difficulties breaking down Houstons defense. Got to where he wanted more often then not and if not for missing a couple of bunnies at the rim and his team mates missing some shots from when he kicked out to the wings, he would of had played a very good game.

ok let me break it down for you, I don't see you on here a lot so I was stating that Conley sucks yet Quin loves him and doesn't have the balls to sit him for the likes of a hot hand like mudiay.

DL and Zanik have built a team with many glaring weaknesses, they paid too much for Conley and didn't address our need for a backup C. Bradley sucks and the team lacks desire and hustle. I said play the hungry guys, as a coach you need to shake things up, so I'm blaming, Conley, the coach, and our management.
Conley may be a part of the problem but he isn't the sole eason for that. The team may have glaring weaknesses but that's not Quin fault either. Mudiay isn't some great energy player, he is a scorer and he isn't going to solve our issues on defensive effort.

You can bench Conley but Ingles will still throw those lazy lob passes, Bogdanovic and Mitchell will sleep on defense, Gobert will still be reluctant to come out of paint. Changing one player won't change anything unless players decide to play like it matters.

Quin may have his flaws but he is still a very good coach and this is the first time I am seeing such a collective lack of effort from our team since he has been here. So the blame should be on the players because Quin still preaches effort.

Snyder just doesn't seem to know how to use Gobert correctly against elite teams. He forces the ball his way too much while often times not using him wisely on defense.

I'm a big fan of Gobert but I just feel like our biggest regular season strength might be our postseason's biggest question. Is Gobert why we win or the reason we lose come playoff time?

At his current contract, he is definitely more positive than negative when it comes to the playoffs. If we give him a max in 2021, I'm worried.

I wish I could carpet bomb this entire thread.

You guys are too down right now.

The Jazz are struggling a little. Yeah, it sucks.

Give us a 5 game winning streak and half the people down on Quinn right now are going to be calling the Jazz world beaters.

A five game winning streak would be nice but won't erase the too up and down, too streaky criticisms that Snyder coached teams have had.

This team rolls over far too often.

I know, I know, we all wanted a championship this season. I guess I got over my fantasy and just tried enjoying the season earlier than others. And when I say "got over" I mean I had my breakdown and posted all my negativity before most people's expectations ever got that high.

I only wanted hope. Even the tank years and the cake baking years provide that which gives something to look forward to. Hope is getting harder to come by with this team, Quin, the front office and it's assets though. Maybe iI'l get over it soon too.

Conley does not fit our team and other players suffer from him. Quin does have his flaws with substitution errors, playing the wrong players at times, I get it. Conley has to go.

I think Quin is still a good coach... he deserves some of the blame pie... the data is pretty telling that the current starting lineup is the worst configuration of our key ingredients and that using Ingles or Conley off the bench would end up ya having more time with better lineups and less with negative ones... yet we will ride the current lineup because of this narrative that “we have to start Mike and Joe because they are mike and joe and we can’t be good if they aren’t good together”.

I just think you start with Joe and work to your small lineup in the middle of the game when you can get away with less size on the court. That adjustment in on Quin.

The other issue is not getting the g league guys on the court. We need some grit, athleticism, hustle off the bench. TB and Niang have some okayish attributes as players but they don’t work with our soft and small perimeter guys... Morgan, Brantley, even Oni May not be the answers... but you don’t know until you try... why not try it.

Sucks to even think about it. But I've had debates with a buddy of mine over the same topic. He says the exact same thing as you mentioned above. He doesn't think we can contend for a title with Gobert. I hate that idea, but part of me agrees. But to be honest. I think I would rather lose with Gobert, than to win without him. I guess that makes me a Gobert Fanboy. haha
