What's new

I'm sure this is a dumb question re: BYU and Utah.

I see.

What does it benefit Utah though? Why do we want to be playing road games in a tough environment at Utah St when it won't give us a huge bump in SOS?

£¥£

It's better to lose on the road to an RPI top 100 then winning at home against an RPI sub 300. Precedent is set that a 20-12 team with better SOS is getting in the NCAA over 24-8 team with a terrible SOS. Committee is looking at road games a lot more and ignoring home wins.

This is true.

However, EVERY team schedules a mix of cupcakes, mids, and quality.

What incentive does a rival have to schedule a flaundering team as a mid when it could be another team that doesn't compete for fans/recruits or w/e?

I understand, but that's not where Utah's program is at right now. We are just trying to gain traction in out of conference as we head into a tough Pac 12 schedule, not impress the committee. In 2 years we will be back to worrying about RPI as we compete for an at large bid.

Also, this.

Ease of travel. Cheaper. Not sure Utah is going after the same recruits USU and Weber have. Haven't seen a recruit get offers from both schools. Could be wrong, but I haven't seen it.

What is flaundering?

Also, the last couple years the Utes were in the MWC, the MWC was better than the PAC-10 and Utah didn't have any trouble playing instate on the road.

BYU fan doing any schedule talk is just silly. Absolutely silly. Even when Utah goes out and schedules nothing but non-conference cupcakes, their schedule is better than BYU's.

BYU, no one cares. Go away.
