I typically don't post too much about life on these forums, but I've come a long way from being some 16 year old kid posting on this forum from my parents' basement in nothing but a towel with a stack of Coke cans next to me. I've only got two weeks left at the VA and just found out today we're headed to Texas A&M for residency.

Word.

On the bolded part - TMFI. On the overall post, congrats! I've got a cousin who is going to med school there.

Nicely done.
From his user name and post history, I'm betting he becomes an infectious disease doctor. The several I've met are void of personality and have terrible bedside manners. But they're all very intelligent and meticulous with details.

JK...a sincere congrats on the accomplishment. Doubt we'll be hearing much from you as you do your residency; your hours will be brutal. Good luck!

The screen name is actually from over 15 years ago and doesn't have anything to do with medicine. I'll be doing psychiatry. There will still be a good amount of call but not like any of the surgical residencies or internal medicine, though you'll still have to do some internal med.

As far as ID docs, there are two down ere in Utah county (Ford and particularly Abolnik) who have a good deal of personality.

Good on ya!!!

I could never do medical school.. Most of the people I graduated with went that route!!

Gratz and good luck.

Something about infection and medical school in the same statement give me the heebie jeebies.

well congratulations - I'd forgotten today was match day!

Psychiatry should be a very interesting residency - seems to be a lot going on in that field these days.

Just having been a member here over the years should give you great insight into troubled minds.
