Insights and what we can take away from the preseason ..

The good... DM looks ready to take another step on both sides of the court.
I'm puzzled by your statement, that Mitchell is "ready to take another step ON BOTH sides of the court." On the offensive side, yes. He looked more in control than ever. On the defensive side, though, he doesn't seem to be putting much effort. At least I did not see it. It is preseason, of course, and taking it easy is to be expected. Nevertheless, what makes you think that Mitchell will be much better defensively? I did not see any sign of it and I'm honestly curious.

Concerns:

* We need to be more conscious of our effort to get back on transition defense to what we do best, which is half court defense.
* Better rebounding all around as a team.
* At the moment, team bus turns left, Bojan turns right in his own bus and gets lost. Chemistry with the rest of the team is certainly not there yet
* Our small guards defensively.
* Still some slight reservations depth wise when it matters.

Positives:

* Regardless how Bojan is shooting, you have to get out to him, and that has created great looks for the team in general, now that at all times on the floor there are 4 shooters out there.
* Conley and Donovan will be a good fit offensively, and we have a very nimble and crafty backcourt.
* The looks that will be on offer offensively will be of higher quality, even though our Snyder-run offense created good looks before.
* If the opposing team shuts down one player of ours, there are so many scorers on our team that you cant necessarily just shut us down by taking one player out.
* Despite my reservations about our depth, some of our rotational players have shown real promise. I'm looking at you Mudiay and Green.
* Tony Bradley just gravitates towards stuffing the stat sheet. Impact is immediate.
* Say what you will about Dante, but if he can get himself right, and contribute even defensively like we know he can, that's a plus.
* Royce O'Neale has created a blueprint for our fringe players like Brantley, Oni etc to follow, in how to carve out a nice career for yourself out of hard work, and tough D.
* Joe Ingles has turned out into a Swiss army knife do it all and at a pretty high level player. He's certainly a clear asset.

Kawhi Leonard is one of the best, and probably the best 2 way player in the league. His usage rate clocks in at 30.0% last year, with a defensive rating of 107. That's a high load on a player, who does what he does on both ends of the court. Donovan Mitchell's usage rate last year of 30.9% is of course similar, but obviously was slightly higher, and his defensive rating last year was 103.

My point is that considering the amount of workload we put on our young 23 year old, 6'1.5" star shooting guard, he's doing pretty damn well. His offensive rating isn't up to Kawhi's of course, not yet anyway. I would say that he's dealing with the immense amount of pressure we have put on his shoulders, so damn well.

To your point though, how much more can he improve defensively, considering the workload? Probably not much, what will improve is his offensive rating. For sure.

I just wanted to give a little snippet of context into the equation.

Btw wasn’t a question but a statement ...

And what a statement it was! A topic stating, "insights and what we can take away about the Jazz preseason" and you followed it up with zero insight. You really put your thought into this one! If your taking anything away from preseason games of the Jazz or any other team, you should quit watching basketball.

OHH I see, that was your attempt at being humorous. LOL, what a knee slapper! I couldn't tell because your attempts at being knowledgeable and humorous are one in the same. Stupid and laughable. The only big fat NOTHING is what your parents produced when making you.
