I think your 'yes' was sarcastic, and so you mean 'no' but just like any couple getting a divorce the Deron Jazz break up was complicated and messy. But without starting a fight I have to agree in part with the original assertion and say that yep, Al contributed to the break up, but it was Sloan who ended up recieving Deron's frustration.

I have given out reps freely on this thread.
I do believe had Jefferson not been on the Jazz, things would have turned out differently. I think either Sloan or Deron would still be on the team had Jefferson never been on the team.
That being said, could you imagine what Sloan would be able to do with Mo Williams, Hayward, Carroll, Millsap and Favors as his starting five? Then throw in the fact that the Jazz would have an additional 14 million in cap space this summer to bring in another wing? Oh, what could have been.
I always wondered what a Sloan run team would have looked like with a running pg. Probably how the team looked with a young Stock and Malone. I wish I could have seen those days.

Let's see what Al did to this team. He completely ruined one of the top offenses in the NBA. He stopped the ball. He took the ball out of your superstar's hands. He didn't run/have the skills to run offensive sets. I can see where Deron and/or Jerry would become frustrated. Maybe to the point of not running the plays, knowing you weren't going to get the ball back? Maybe to the point that you took out some anger on lack of offensive movement on a rookie? Maybe.
Jefferson wasn't the whole problem, but I honestly believe Sloan would still be our coach if Jefferson wasn't on this team.

Malone forever changed the NBA. In his early days most of the bigs were big and slow, or tall and slight he was strong and fast. I remember him streaking past people and Stockton getting him the ball perfectly. They made it look so easy. I would still pay to watch reruns of the 1987 Jazz.

Umm. Are you serious? 0 progress towards our future? Oh, that's right. Sloan doesn't play young guys, even though Stockton and Malone became Hall of Famers with Sloan. He turned young rookies into good players that contributed their rookie year, including Russell, Anderson, Eisley, Millsap, Deron, etc, etc, etc. He took a team lead by Arroyo and AK to one game out of the playoffs. Made numerous Western Conference Finals, with two completely different team. Went to two NBA Finals.
Stockton, Malone, Deron and AK all became max players under him. Boozer and Memo lived up to their "overpaid" deals under Sloan. Anderson, Eisley, Marshall, Miles, etc all went on to bigger contracts and showed that maybe Sloan's system made them look better than they were.
But yeah, Sloan was holding this team back. Ha ha.
One of the biggest things I remember about Sloan was his constantly complaining about how no one would run after a defensive rebound. He was always on the sideline yelling at his point and players to run down the court. He was an offensive genius, and I wish Deron and Boozer would have pushed the ball up the court more.

Semi-truth. I neg repped him, not because of Sloan being HOF. I did it because he said Jefferson drove off Sloan.
