I like them both. Sue me.

But I do think Burks is playing very well, though Hayward has a bigger role.

Here he is though'

Give Hayward's job to Alec; give Jefferson's job to Hayward; give Alec's job to Rush.

This 100%........ should have happened a long time ago

Didn't Burks average like 19/5/5 while Hayward was injured?

Ya, as a starter burks has looked even better than off the bench......... Seems like he plays better against the other teams starters

i voted yes. hayward did improve too, but i like burks improvement more. and burks is just better overall talent. hayward is just too inconsistent. both will give you promising games, but hayward gives you more WTF games

hayward has had minutes upon minutes and he hasnt improved at all.

burks is on the rise.

id actually just let em start.

The question is not whether Burks is having a better season, it's whether he has the higher ceiling. He does. Although my guess is Burks would be having the "better season" given the same minutes.

Gordon is averaging 36 minute per game this yeas. Just look at Burks' per 36 to see a comparison. It is pretty close, Burks with more points (by 1 ppg, 17 vs 16) but fewer assists and rebounds (5 and 5 for hay, 4 and 3 for burks) and steals and blocks (1.4 and .7 for Hay, 1 and .3 for burks), lower free throw percentage (84% hay, 76% burks), but higher shooting percentage (41% total for hay, 44% total for burks). Not sure Burks is really that much better even given the same minutes. I think he is more consistent, generally speaking, but that is another tough one to measure.

I just want to see the two start together.

Burke
Burks
Hayward
Kanter
Favors (as soon as he's back)

should be start and finish from here to the end of the season, regardless of mistakes. If the Jazz like Marvin, they've done enough by him. They've seen who he is, and that he plays hard despite pain in a contract year. Now they can sit his *** and let him heal while they put all of their young talent in to the starting role to evaluate how they progress/regress. If they sit Marvin now, they can ensure that he doesn't get more than MLE in the offseason, thus making him a realistic role player in the future. Kanter needs those minutes. Kanter needs to be allowed to play through his mistakes, it's the only way he'll learn.

I'll admit that RJ has been a surprise this year, but by the time we are contenders, he'll be in assisted living, and thus all the minutes that went his way would have been a waste. He shouldn't be considered someone to bring back next year. Trade him, or sit him. Stop playing, despite his performance. We've done more for his career than any other team would have done--that should be enough. If no one else wants him by this point, that's not our fault.

I want to see our core five put into similar situations as one another, so then at season's end I can actually objectively assess their progression.

Hayward has been invited to Team USA; Burks wasn't in the conversation.

Jeffy and Marvin have greater trade value, albeit low due to their salaries.

I'm ok with the status quo up to the deadline. Then, I agree with you. Start Alec and Hayward and move Jefferson to the bench. Increase Rush's mins. And a similar strategy on the other side. Kanter > minutes. Marvin < minutes.

Only compared to expectations. Burks is exceeding his expectations by further than Hayward, but mainly because they expectations were lower to begin with. They are both very good young players. The Jazz are fortunate to have both, and I hope they keep and play both.

I really don't like the idea of having to compare them and choose between them.
