Is Brock Motum the Stretch 4?

In the Vegas festivities he's hitting .500 from 3 and .666 from the field. He has his limitations I realize and is a long shot to make the roster but was recruited at the same time as Klay Thompson to WSU.

He is a percentage of the devil. No way.
 
I'm a fan of his. I don't think he SHOULD be a top 15 rotation guy, BUT if we were to have injuries to our bigs I'd be all for having him fill in.

Has does a little of everything, isn't very physical or athletic but is serviceable at about everything.
 
The problem is this:

The Jazz have this on their roster that will make the team for sure:

Gobert/Pleiss
Favors/Booker/Lyles
Hayward/Ingles
Burks/Hood
Exum/Burke/Neto

That is 12 people. So at max you can have 3 more. Cooley, Cotton, Jerrett, Johnson, Millsap and O'Brien all have contracts.

Three of them have to get cut. If you include Motum then four of them have to get cut. Who?
 
He is A stretch four but not THE stretch four
 
I don't see how he would get minutes, and I think a playmaking 4 like Lyles is more valuable. Lyles will stretch the floor with his ability to make plays on the perimeter. Like the 4/5 PnR we've run with Cooley in SL. Also think Lyles will shoot it well enough to keep defenses honest.

I know the numbers and who has contracts but he might be a guy that you give a decent signing bonus to with a non guaranteed K and then say run along to Boise with some other youngsters we have and see if he incubates. I know he's not as good a rebounder as Marvin Williams is but he seems to bring the 3 ball and can stretch defenses.

I think they wanted to do that last year but he went back to Audtralia for more money.
