Is Irving a possiblity?

I put very little stock into the idea that Cleveland is entertaining the possibility of passing on Irving, but people have been talking since the beginning that if they want to maximize their value then they’ll pass on him and pick up Williams or Kanter then get Knight at 4. Who knows what they’ll do, but if that’s the route they take, then I think the Jazz are the best bet to get Irving. Jazz & Cavs could swap picks 1 & 3 and that assures the Cavs that they’ll either get Kanter/Knight or Williams/Knight. Cleveland still gets the maximum value for their picks and we get Irving. The only question is what we have to give up. What would you be willing to part with?

If you were the Cavs would you rather walk away with Kanter/Knight/+ Jazz asset or Irving/Valanciunas?

It scares me to say it, but could Kyrie Irving be a Curtis Borchart remix?

A talented prospect who wasn't supposed to be available when the Jazz draft so they didn't get to work him out, nor do a physical. Has a history of injury and he suddenly becomes available to the Jazz on draft day. hmmm......

I'd trade them Jefferson without blinking (everyone knows that), or probably even Millsap. Knight might have a higher ceiling physically, but when it comes to how both read the game, intelligence, natural feel, and subsequent efficiency, Irving is just in a different universe right now.

Unless the Jazz get to do this with Irving before the draft I don't think the trade's gonna happen...

Too risk with his toe injury, plus he wasn't even at the Combine..

I don't know about different universe, but he is definitely the more complete player and he seems to have chance of becoming a Paul/Williams type PG.

Different universe based on what they did last year in those respects, absolutely. Knight showed some tantalizing potential generally, but he made a lot of bad decisions game in and game out. Irving came in and mercilessly picked teams apart.

Again, that can change with time and I THINK Knight has sufficient intangibles that he might work his way past his mistakes and become really really good. But right now, one's a maestro while the other is good but still learning a lot (comparatively).

Mark my words: If he drops to 3, we'll pick him up.

Isn't that what happened when Brewer dropped to our pick? Seems like he was ranked higher.

Isn't that what happened with Koufas?

That happened with Koufos. I couldn't comment on Brewer, but he was a good pick, his shortcomings notwithstanding. Hell, I still think Koufos might be a decent player. If he can get a shrink.

Hotttnickkk, you were all concerned about Kanter's knees and now you're all concerned over Irving's toe. Both checked out perfectly fine and neither are a concern. The Jazz would be idiotic to pass on him just because they did not work him out. By that logic if Cleveland passes on him, then he'll end up going undrafted.

Everyone was concerned about Borchardt pre-draft; there is little concern over Irving. Big men with feet problems are a lot different than a guy who hurt his toe once.

LOL.. just being cautious, it's the 3rd pick we're talking about after all..

When buying a car do you not wanna test drive it first?

If it's a brand new BMW that got a dent on the lot and they're selling it for cents on the dollar and you CAN'T test drive it, then yes.
