The problem the Jazz have with Burke is that he's just good enough that he'll keep his job, PG won't be a priority in the draft or FA, but because of the deficiencies you mentioned and a few others (not getting to the FT line, not making plays defensively, small, etc), he'll likely never be top notch and will probably always hold the team back. And I like Burke.

I agree it won't be addressed in this draft, but don't count out a trade in the future. Jazz have tons of assets and will have room under the luxury tax to take on a free agent. Don't need a superstar at PG. In fact, we've already seen how limiting it is to have one of the players at or near MAX be the PG. I've been a Trey critic as well, right from the summer league when it was apparent his lack of speed at his diminutive size would be a huge deficit to overcome.

But I also think it is premature to count him out. Competitors find ways to minimize their weaknesses and maximize their strengths. We'll see if Trey can do that.

Trey Burke needs to be in the Jazz future plans...even if doesn't pan out running the team on a full-time basis, he can be our Robert Horry. Bring him in to make the clutch shots. Every championship aspiring team needs guys like this.

He definitely has that 'clutch shot' gene within him and that's someone you'd like to have on an upcoming playoff team! I'm pretty stoked about Trey. I'm glad we were able to get him in last year's draft. Can't wait to see what he does next year for the jazz.

1) Yes Burke needs to improve his shooting percentage and needs to shoot less. However, he didn't mention how clutch Trey is.
2) Neto is not the next John Stockton and hasn't proved he can play in the NBA. Trey made himself look bad and Neto had some nice moments but he didn't dominate summer league.
3) No knows who the Jazz are going to pick in the draft so KA might not even be an option.
4) Getting to the line is nice but do you want your PG getting beat up. His job is to get the ball to our big guys down low. However, I think his percentage would go up if he stopped shooting so much and went to the basket more. I think this will improve if the Jazz start pushing the ball.
5) Has everyone including this writer forgotten that Trey was a rookie and he average 13 pts. and 5 assists. The Jazz were 1-14 when he was injured.

I don't know if Trey is the answer but considering everything I certainly think he can be if he continues to work hard. Ask me in 2-3 years but right now I think he will get better.
