What's new

Is washington dreaming?

....if the Jazz could unload Okur and Bell at the same time....that would be beautiful! This draft is weaker than weak. Swapping picks will mean little or nothing for either team. Unloading those ridiculous contracts?.....heaven, shear heaven!

Moving from 6 to 3 doesn't get the Wiz much, unless they are locked in on a certain player, but who?

Washington does have the 18th and 35 picks, which is less than the Jazz gave Portland to move from 6 to 3. The picks could be used on Shelvin Mack and somone else maybe JaJuan, Vucivic, Jimmy Butler.....

Couldn't disagree more. The only way Utah can bungle this draft is dropping out of the Top 3. While it is a weak draft, just about every NBA scout will tell you that there is huge drop-off after the top 3 picks. The Jazz need not over think this. Stay put at 3, take the best BPA. The end. Getting cute and dropping down a few picks will make it that much harder to secure a future franchise conerstone with the best draft pick they're going to have from the D-Will trade.

Totally agree. I see little difference in talent from this years top 3 and next years top 3. From 3 -10, however, EPIC difference ...

But Kanter, of course! He or Derrick Williams are most certainly who they are targeting above all.

If the Jazz are set on Knight, it would be most ideal if the Jazz drafted Kanter, Knight fell to 6 and Washington grabbed him, then the Jazz swapped Kanter for Knight, 18, and 35. The only thing I'd want from Washington would be one of their untouchables or picks. The rest is ****ing garbage.

What a plainly awful article. Calling this/these idiot(s) "dreamers" is being kind.

If we could get rid of Okur's contract and Bell's, we drop down to 6 and take the money to go after a free agent. I think the Jazz would do it. They may end up with Jan Vessey or Leonard, but if they don't think the #3 pick will improve them, they might as well. I don't think the Jazz want any more picks from this draft.

This. If we did this AND unloaded Bell, I'd be stoked. I'd say Okur too but he's not as important as he's an expiring anyway.

I may be reaching on this prediction but think Harrison Barnes will have a year that blows away Irving and Williams. Perry Jones could also be head and shoulders above now that they plan on tailoring the offense more to suit his game.

I remember how well that 3 to 6 trade worked out for Portland. They traded down because they didnt need a point at the time. So they made a trade so they could get their guy Webster. I think it would be a huge mistake to trade down 3 spots with Washington. History has shown that it probably won't work out in the long run.

I thought Washington was happy with Blatchet and Mcgee as thier 2 bigs. Drafting Kanter puts them in the same postion as the Jazz if the Jazz were to draft Kanter....too many players wanting the same position in the food chain. And the Wiz would pay a hefty price to move up.

Williams might make more sense for Washington, but there is no gaurantee he will make it past #2-- so if the Wiz are already paying to move up, why not just trade with Minny and get the player they want?

I keep hearing people say it's a weaker draft, so why not trade down while maybe losing a bad contract in the process. I would think in a draft that is not that deep, you'd want to be picking as high as possible to ensure yourself a better chance at getting a contributor.

This draft is 3 players deep in regards to players with "star" potential. It's very simple: Stay put @ 3 and ASSURE your franchise of landing one of those 3 players.

After Irving and Williams, who is your third? I think both Kanter and Knight have potential to be stars. I don't think anyone in this draft has franchise player potential.

I've wondered if the Jazz and Wizards would chat and if I was the Jazz, I would ask for #6, their unprotected first next year and a protected first in '14 to move up to #3. Do that and hope Knight or Walker is still around at #6. If not, see what's out there for #6.

I would love this deal.

Kanter is my 3rd, but I also think Knight is close behind him in the star potential category. I guess that means I actually think the draft is 4 players deep. With that being said, I don't think any of those 4 fall to Washington's spot. If Utah loses out on Kanter, I'd almost rather them stay put at 3 and choose betwen Williams and Knight.
