I was referring to the mass of the Higgs boson. The discovery of the Higgs seems to be a triumphant validation of long suspected theories.. but at the same time created new problems as to others with the absence of equivalent energy.

I'm typing this from my phone even though I'm with people. I got issues.
What you're saying is utterly irrelevant. You're using the fact you can't prove something is real to support the notion your god might be real? Well, I think since you can't prove love is real, it is best to accept Homer Simpson created the universe. Why not? This is like my little niece who would ask me absurd questions to prompt my dismissal, then she'll say "you never knoooooooow".

Well if you'd noticed I haven't been definitive in what I've said about God at all.
Everyone has their own path to take in finding him. It is a personal journey that could take years, even decades. Everyone who have found God will tell you this. All I've said is why not keep an open mind and an open heart? Just because something cannot be proven by science or that we cannot physically "observe" it with our 5 senses, doesn't mean it doesn't exist.
We cannot "proof" that our love for someone exists definitively. We cannot sense it with our eyes, nose, tongue, touch, or ears. But does that mean that it doesn't exist? How about someone's spirit? How about someone's soul? Can we deny their existence, just because we cannot sense them, or have a scientific answer for them?
In many ways what your niece said rings true with me. We as adults have been so conditioned and take things as certainty because of what we "know" forgetting that there are so many things that we still do not know.
Jesus once said "Unless you change and become like a child, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven". It is the curiosity of a child that God asks of us.. which to me isn't much to ask at all.

This thread got pretty interesting. Unfortunately, I do not have enough time to jump into this conversation. I am even hesitant to do so because I am going to be fairly busy for the next couple of days.
I will just quickly chime in with the obvious. I do believe in God's existence. I cannot prove him to exist "scientifically," unless you consider metaphysics a science. Even then the metaphysical proofs would take a long time to spell out adequately, and like I said, I do not have the time to do so at the moment.
I suppose that I can work on putting together a thread that looks at the "Philosophy of God." However, it will take me a while to put together a thread/post that I would be comfortable posting.

BTW - I just wanted to reiterate that I am not anti-science. The Higgs Boson or evolution fits perfectly fine within my personal faith and the Catholic faith perspective.
