What's new

It's hard to judge Dennis Lindsey

Hmmm... He has a job that has a lot of risk and judgment calls. I think he gets an A at this point due to the drafting, hiring QS, and setting an overall culture and strategy that has brought the Jazz to this point which is the first "up year" of the rebuild. It is on schedule, it looks promising, contracts are reasonable, and coach is a stud. I like that he's taken a competitive position of going big in an era of small ball. (You do that when you land Gobert. :-)
.
When you see so many teams gettin' ready to get ready year after year, and you add in the market power of the Utah Jazz have in free agency, then I grade the situation the Jazz are in as "great."
.
So to quote the requests above: What GM do you trade for?

Any GM or management makes mistakes. The good ones just don't let their mistakes bury the team they are managing(a.k.a. Billy King). As a whole I like where the team is and I am excited for the season to start and for the following years to show us whether or not we truly have something special or we are enchanted by the glitter of fool's gold.

This. Why do fans expect GMs to have a 100% correct decision rate? History is 20/20, but its a lot harder when your sitting in the chair looking forward. He's done a great job.

In what part of my post did I remotely infer I wanted to trade GM's. In fact, I explicitly stated that "He's made far many great moves, and I'm on his side for sure".

I guess reading comprehension is piss poor in this Jazz community.

OP actually had a pretty good post. Don't know why so many if you are complaining about it. I know it's impossible to be a true fan if you're critical of anything these days, but yall should try it.

Fwiw, our return in the Kanter trade was awful, and there's no denying that.

I think Kanter was the best expected. Perhaps he could have preempted like the Dwill move. As it turned out the Jazz skyrocketed into being a playoff caliber team the moment Kanter left, and a division rival has maxed a guy they don't even plan on starting. Kanter was/is fools gold.

Would you want Kanter on his current contract?

I do really miss JYD though. Can't remember the circumstatnces there. It would be interesting to know what things DL would have changed in hindsight.

I feel like part of the trade was an additional 20 minutes of Gobert. Also a galvanizing common enemy for the team to rally around. That's a pretty good return. True, the incoming were Pleiss and that Frankenstein looking ****er and whatever else, but really Kanter is a ********. Addition by subtraction. Plus Lindsey brought in Quin Snyder and has changed the culture of the FO.

Yeah, hard to believe how little we got back for trading the right to massively overpay a significantly flawed and disgruntled player who was stifling the progress of our most ungruntled players.
