What's new

It's sad to say....

there just isn't many Lillards or Westbrooks out there that accept the challenge and instead of running, they stay and fight. They all went through a big star leaving (arguably bigger than us) and they still managed to make the playoffs too. Yes, it blows for us. I, for one, knew he was leaving long ago but the way this panned out was disheartening for a Jazz fan (even for me). The way today was handled was just bad. It was like that one tweet that someone posted that "he got punched in the balls, just to know you're going to get punched in the balls again." We still have a good team, it's VERY CLEAR Gobert wants to be here with everything he has said. Know we don't have to build around Hayward, we can build around a TRUE JAZZ PLAYER. And to that I say...

#TAKEF'INGNOTE

Hopefully Rudy stays and one or two of these young guys blow up. That's all I can hope for right now. I'm just so down right now that it's hard to find optimism. It'll get easier with time though probably. I've seen ups and downs as a Jazz fan since I was a kid in the 90's. This is one of the hardest days I can remember.

I called it on this board on the 27th through 29th (three threads) after Hayward demanded we sign Hill. There was also the Tanner Ainge tweet asking Hayward to stay. Both things seemed disingenuous and political to me and pointed to a kind of deception and an out in the case of Hayward. I really never believed that this guy was who people thought he was. I personally loathe deceitfulness, good riddance, karma's a bitch.

What's so scary now is it's not great players leaving small market teams who are not competing. This is now 2 seasons in a row where an all-star left a team that was in a very good spot. OKC was a title contender with KD and we were certainly on the upswing with Hayward. Didn't matter.

The CBA made the league less about parity and more about super teams.

The players got what they wanted but this atmosphere is feeling oligarchical. Unexpected result, but it's what is happening...

I don't think there is enough time and we don't have the assets. Rudy is locked up for 4 years but those will likely be the best of his career and we are on the downslope. The truth is after 30 Rudy's likely to fall off a cliff even if he stays. Guys Rudy's size usually don't play til they are 40. Honestly a trade is probably what would be best for both parties. We have a new timeline that is likely beyond Rudy's prime and Rudy shouldn't have to sit through a tank. The dude isn't a project, he's already a star. Let's get a **** ton of assets and start over.

The lack of loyalty in the league disgusting.

I lost respect for KD, and now Hayward among many others.

Those stand out because they were really good teams they left. The were cowards, and took the easy way out.

Sadly we just went through a "7 year tank" to get where we are lol. I can see us tank after 2? years maybe

No they held onto sap and Big AL too long. The first 4 years was treadmill, then a year of tank, a year of development, a year of bring in vets for win now.

The Jazz tried to rebuild on the fly. The margin for error was too small.

So trade a guy that wants to play here because we are assuming this team can't compete without Gordon Hayward? Atleast let us play a half a season before we start saying trade everyone away. We just drafted a guy who may be our next star. You gotta give it Atleast 2 years like Shad said.

Why do people expect loyalty from Hayward when the Jazz have treated some players like pieces of s*** - cases in point, Exum, Burk. If Hayward has been rubbish in the last few years, the jazz would have dumped him.

Burke sucked so bad. Washington dumped him too. Jazz gave him the starting job btw.

Exum got paid more than he has deserved so far in his career. He probably should have went to college and never should have played for his international team.

I don't know how this myth started that tanking is necessary to rebuilding.

The Jazz completed their rebuild without any significant contributions from players they drafted early in the lottery with their own picks.

The Jazz traded Burk because he sucked, and they will probably waive/trade Exum if he sucks this coming season. You people expect loyalty from Hayward when the jazz have been dumping players left, right and centre?
Professional basketball is strictly a business and Hayward does not owe the Jazz anything .
