What's new

It's the most wonderful time of the year (first game of the year!). Hou @ Jazz Game 1 of many.

That goes without saying. My point is, Burke played too much like he did last year and that just isn't going to get it done over the course of the season. My comment really has little to do with this one game. the Jazz will lose about 60 games this year if Burke doesn't figure things out.

Agreed. I think that Burke thinks he is "the man" and he never will be. He has to become a pass first pg. That said, it was good to see him be able to hit those high bank shot layups to keep the defense honest. He needs to be able to hit open 3s too.

And Kanter? Wow, he just does not show any sign that he is going to "get it". I suspect he heads back overseas in not too long. Booker looks like an NBA talent, Enes does not.

Interesting stat. Rockets made 11 more 3s than the Jazz and they won by 11. Coincidence?

Can't be too upset, we got beat by a REALLY good team that shot the ball well. We could have played better, but sometimes you have to tip your hat to the opponent.

Also, anyone else worried that the Jazz organization really botched the development of Kanter? Assigning Big Al as his mentor from the get-go was a major mistake. It feels like he can't decide if he wants to be Big Al, Dirk, or Paul Shirley.

No team is going to win any NBA game with the disparity in 3pts shot that happened last night.

He was awesome at nailing 3's in the preseason. He just had a bad night. He was defended by one of the top wing defenders in the league and one of the best rim protectors in the league. Houston actually played really good defense by overplaying everything and not allowing our offense to run smoothly. We just have to get better at executing against pressure.
Come on dude. Those 3's he missed in the 2nd half had nothing to do with the defender. He was undefended on most of them. It's like the Rockets just assumed when the game was on the line he would miss them regardless of the defense. I'm not a Hayward hater but his lack of mental toughness when that game got tough was troubling. Your the highest paid player on the team and the other team does not even bother coming out to defend your shot, that would offend the hell out of me.
.
I hope you are right and that it was one game. But it looked an awful lot like a lot of games last year. He needs to make wide open threes, especially late when the team needs them. Last night he failed at it.
.
I'm not blaming the loss on Hayward, because even if he makes a few of those we probably lose that game. But the trend is troubling.

People really coming down on Burke... Beverly is a world class *** kicker on defense. Burke should have knocked down the two open looks he had but he didn't have many uncontested shots. I was impressed with some of the finishes he had at the rim... He looks improved. The shot will start to fall just relax.

On a lot of the 3s I place the blame on Trey as he initially got beat a lot of the time that lead to penetration and then kick outs for the 3s Houston hit. If Trey plays a little tougher D early we might not have gotten the rain of 3s.

I don't want Novak on the court because he can't defend a fire hydrant.
Ingles was locking guys down doe!

My point: This was the first regular season game with the Jazz playing Quin's offense. Tonight was our first real test for the offensive system with how the Rockets were overplaying everything and getting us out of rythym. Our offensive execution was off on all facets, not anything individually Burke failed at. Burke looked nothing like he did last year. His shot wasn't falling and he at least tried attacking the basket and had some success in doing so.
Cy you are overreacting (again)

Sjf was simply saying that he believes it's very important for trey to play well for this team.
Do you disagree?
