What's new

Ive been wavering on Jabari, but this seals it.

People are scared that parker is fat? lol if he thinks he needs to lose weight, he can do it. If Kanter can, so can parker

You guys are seriously overreacting. I'd say he only needs to get down to 8% to be on par with most other NBA players. He could easily do that before the SL even started, if he had good trainers.

And who gives a ****? He's a baller.

I do think he's lacking in the lateral quickness department and losing a couple pounds of body fat really wouldn't change that.

But like I said, he's a baller anyway. He definitely could become a player you can build an offense around.

I gave up on him as a Wing sometime last December. He just isn't.

I can't see how you justify gutting your interior defense (Favors), drafting Parker, and then playing him alongside Kanter. It would be a disaster.

I think he's a skilled player. I don't think he's a Wing.
What is so hard to comprehend?

You are saying that because his body far is 11% then that means he can't be a wing. How does that make any sense?

Look at his skill. He can handle the ball like a guard. He has better handles than the great Andrew Wiggins. He shoots better than Wiggins too. Shooting and handling the ball are the big keys to being a wing. The only question everyone else has (not me) is whether or not he can defend wings. I'm not worried about it.

Why is it that, with all Wiggins low body fat, he still isn't a great ball handler? Body fat doesn't mean dick when it comes to skill.

I agree it's not about his body fat. But it is about his lateral quickness, which is a legit concern if you saw the few times he tried to guard anyone on the perimeter at Duke.

Above 250lbs. there are exceptions to the rule of course, Ron Artest was listed at 260 lbs last season, Joe Johnson plays SG around 250lbs.

Still find both of these metrics unbelievable. It does depend on how you carry it I guess. Jabari does not look 254, but damn it just seems heavy for a guy who is supose to get by or guard some of the fastest guys in the league.

He'll be able to score against 3s. No doubt.
He won't be able to guard them.
One of the best ways to "guard" a three is by them having to keep up with you on the other end. Wears them down. Opposing 3's aren't going to be able to relax on the defensive and against Jabari.

I always thought he ultimately settles in in the 260 range somewhere, but perhaps I was underestimating. Anyhow, he's what, 19 right now? He still hasn't hit that weight gain inflection point. I agree that he becomes a full-time 4 at some point.

As some here have said, I think he can get down to a respectable weight/body fat % once he's on a team working with nutritional experts and professional trainers. However, it does concern me that he shows up to workouts like this. You wouldn't show up to a job interview (for a job you REALLY want) wearing wrinkled pants, untucked shirt, wearing flip flops, having uncombed hair and bad breath would you? I think this is somewhat of a red flag when a player can't show up prepared and in shape for what should be the most important "job interviews" of his life. Just my 2 cents...

Cause I don't care. He doesn't look slow or fat to me.

Low body percent fat doesn't mean you can ball.

How come you are so interested in his abs?

Why don't you look at his skill?

logged on again to answer you, but it looks like PG_AB has, more or less, answered for me.

It's hard to find a 250+ lb wing with 11% body fat. And there's a reason it's hard.

He's a tweener that will need to play 90+% of his minutes at the 4. (And a combo of him and Kanter WOULD BE MOTHER ****ING POROUS)

so what was your point again?

My point was 11% is less than expected, I presumed hed be closer to 15.

Damien Inglis is considered a gigantic sized SF, and hes 14lbs less than Parker.

In the game vs Mercer, he looked slow vs less than professional level competition, Duke got steamrolled at the end, with very little response over the course of the last 5 minutes.

This is like when some people thought Kevin Durant was going to suck cuz he couldn't bench press enough weight.

Lol.

Gotta love some posters here.

Embiid's injuries? No biggie, it's just too talented.
Parker weighs almost as much as Lebron? Suddenly a red flag and deal breaker.

C'mon guys, I know he's Mormon and all... But let's get real.

If the jazz have the #1 pick in a week, even the Parker fans wouldn't be happy passing up on Wiggins. But if wiggins is off the board and we're drafting with Parker still on the board, who would honestly pass up on him?

Is his weight ideal? No. He could probably lose 10-15 lbs. recently, we had Deron and kanter work themselves into lighter more athletic players. It's not mission impossible here.
Is his weight suddenly a red flag to where we should pass him up? Heavens no.

Again, no one wants to take him #1, right? I think everyone agrees that Wiggins is the best long term prospect in the draft. It's what happens after...

Besides, do we really want a stick? He's strong and can take the pounding better/post up more.

If we were to move up in a postion to grab one of the top wings in the draft I sure as hell hope its not Jabari unless somwhow he slides into the 4 effectlivly. This from Chad Ford today.

What the bloody **** is this!?!?!!

He is not a wing player.

At least we know he is #Hungry
