Jackpotting Around: A Utah Jazz Podcast

All jokes aside, this is really impressive and cool that you two did this project. So far I’ve only listened to about half of episode 1, but I intend to listen to both episodes this weekend. At the neighborhood bar, El Balcon de Maelo, right now in Puerto Rico. It’s a great place to live, and your podcast and JazzFanz keeps me connected with Utah, where I went to high school and college.

I can't even read this. It's like watching an elephant grow wings and fly away.

I listened to part of episode 1 and most of episode 2 just now, hopefully my feedback is constructive. Obviously take it for what it's worth and my best recommendation is just make the pod what you want it to be and have fun with it.

I don't listen to many podcasts. I just don't really have very many moments in my day where it makes sense to listen to a pod, basically just during my lunch break and on my ride home from work. So when I listen to a Pod I expect to get something different out of it than what I can read online. When I heard you guys were doing a Pod I was intrigued, but honestly not too interested since I know you don't have any inside information or connections and I can read your opinions on most things here on Jazzfanz. After listening to the first two pods I think the most value they bring for me is 1. Entertainment 2. A summary of all the media you both consume, and 3. Your knowledge of the salary cap and feel for what other teams are doing/looking for.

As far as entertainment I am enjoying hearing your voices and especially HH seems very natural in his delivery. It would be a little more entertaining if you disagreed a little more. I'm not sure if you guys ever listen to Maggie and Perloff on CBS radio, but they are some of the best, imo, at having entertaining arguments. They are good at disagreeing without being disagreeable. They purposefully take different sides of the argument to make it more interesting.

I like that you both seem to consume a lot of NBA information that I don't. You are consistently referencing pods or tweets that I hadn't heard and seen and so it's nice to have a summary of all the most relevant Jazz related information. I think this is probably the most value I can see in listening to your pod moving forward.

You are both pretty knowledgeable and fair in your analysis of other teams and the salary cap and CBA. This is nice since a lot of other pods that have more connections, etc. don't have this. I will say that the trade discussions is what dragged on the most for me and why I didn't listen to the whole thing. I don't need to hear 3 different versions of a KO trade, for example. Just pick the one you like the best and discuss that.

It feels like you are trying to stay away from too much Jazzfanz references in order to attract a larger audience. This is probably the right call. I think the other way to go about it is making it very Jazzfanz focused, you might even work with Jason on some type of agreement. You could be the official Pod of Jazzfanz for example.

Anyway, hopefully I don't come off as a prick with these comments. I really don't intend them to be read that way, I'm just thinking in the early stages you might be open to all feedback as you shape it into what you want it to be.

Great Job!
100% all feedback is welcome. We also hear some of the things yall point out when they are happening. We are feeling things out and it is so helpful to hear what people like or think can be improved. We appreciate the time listening and responding.

Most of it has already been said… one person’s mic is coming through a little harsh. I was a little depressed that there wasn’t some dream acquisition out there to make the team better now.

I was really really impressed with your basketball knowledge. You demonstrated good insights into not only the Jazz, but other teams’ needs. Made for a good listen . I didn’t even realize it was an hour… went by fast as I enjoyed the content.
