Haven’t finished, yet, loving it so far.

Let us all hold hands and pray that Austin didn’t mean what he said or the org is devoted to cashing in our chips (our winning players).
It would be just a devastatingly bad move to overreact emotionally and push for the play in or just let the chips fall where they fall.

Yeah, you’re right about Zach Lowe. He was nuts when he said the Jazz can "finish 14th real easily" in the West even if they kept all the current players. Playing the next season with all our vets, internal growth, and Austin’s no-minutes/lineup-manipulation policy would mean there's no way that’s gonna happen. If we want to keep the pick and have a shot at drafting Peterson, Dybantsa, Boozer, or Ament, etc., we've got to play our cards right. We could probably tank with Lauri and the kids, but I’m not sure we'll be able to move Sexton, Collins, and Clarkson. Idk, Austin will probably explore all the options, but I wouldn’t be surprised if he ends up trading Lauri this offseason.

Of the players we could send in the general Sixers framework proposed, I think I’m more partial to Lauri + 5 for PG + 3 + 2028 Clips 1st because if we’re getting Ace, we should also have one of his heroes there to guide him to better basketball habits.

Enjoyed the podcast. Great production.

Trading Kessler and Maarkanen resets the timeline but we need to max it out in either case. If we cant get great value then I would prefer to lose other vets and rebuild Kessler and Lauri's value.

Why do you think that this is such a "nuts" statement? This year the non-playin teams in the West were the Suns, Blazers, Spurs and Pelicans. If the Spus and Pelicans are relatively healthy there is no chance that the Jazz finishes ahead of them. Outplaying the ascending Blazers (who finished the season 8-7) would be also pretty tough. And I have a hard time seeing how the Suns with Booker, Durant and Beal would finish at the very bottom of the conference.

Of course, the Jazz can outplay one of those teams if they get killed by injuries (like NOP last season) but the 14th place in the West sounds pretty reasonable. After all, In 2024-25 the Jazz finished 17 games below the 13th team.
