The article on Realgm.com discusses that OKC will have difficulty keeping both Harden and Serge Ibaka. In the article, they view Harden as more of the expendable luxury, given that athletic and defensive big men who have some offensive abilities are more rare than a 6'5" 2-guard, especially when you already have Durant and Westbrook as your ball-hogging cornerstones. The article mentions that Utah could be a destination if OKC wants to get value for Harden, given that Utah has 2 first-round picks in the upcoming draft.

Would you want Harden? What would you give up to get him? I would probaly do Burks + 1st rounder (top 2 protected) or Jefferson + Burks + 1st rounder (lottery protected) for Harden + Perkins.

They're not trading him. The Jazz should throw a lot of money at him in 2013.

Besides that, if they're going to lose him "for nothing", that's because they don't have the money to pay him. They'd much rather have Harden and his (future) salary, than Jefferson and his.

If Harden agrees to sign an extension with us in this scenario, I would trade Burks or Kanter + 1st rounder.

Do they absolutely have to let him go? Could they pay if they wanted to, or is there some kind of rule beside the luxury tax rule?

They can go over. The question is as a small market club, can they afford to pay the luxury tax, or do they want to pay it.

Can OKC really afford Durant, Westbrook, and Harden along with all their role players?

No, they will eventually have to stock their team with role players who aren't supremely talented. They might not even be able to afford Ibaka, even with Harden leaving.

I would give any and every combination of any of the players on our team except Hayward, Kanter, Favors, and Millsap (that would work in a trade) plus one or two first rounders. I would be very surprised if there is a talent as good as him in this draft except maybe Davis. Harden is a superb offensive and defensive player with very few weaknesses besides his recalcitrance to look like he belongs in a ZZ-Top video.

MAYBE Davis? Harden is great, but Davis is a franchise changer.

We'll see. They're different players, and Davis has a long, long way to go on his offensive game and possibly his body (he's a rail for the PF or C). Harden is ranked 12th in the NBA for his offense by Synergy (unbelievable for a guard that is not simply a catch and shoot player); LeBron ranks 31st. He's on a team with Westbrook and Durant and still produces incredibly well. Davis is an incredible defensive player right now in college, but he didn't out defense Bismack Biyombo in the Hoop Summit. I'm just saying, we'll see, but Davis is the undisputed #1 pick in this draft and looks to dominate.

"Alec Burks has all the intangibles to become, for the members of Jazzfanz, the most hated jazz player"

I see a tepid mood is setting in. We all know what kind of moon is about to rise.

Are we all giving up on Burks now? I haven't watched the Spurs game, but come on....give him a year with training camp and actual practice time. He's had to play behind CJ for idiot's sake! He could be better than Harden, and then we'll be crying like men over what could have been......just like New Jersey will be doing with Favors
