What's new

Valuations consistently change and it’s certainly one way to measure it. Other ways, of which I’m inclined to judge, is if the net total brings us closer than where we were than when we unanimously declared sunk cost.

The status quo was not an option. There was not a world where we could continue to build around Gobert and Mitchell. The next year of that team would have looked a lot like this year's Clippers.

You both make great points. They’re not mutually exclusive.

More on yours, though: that last Don/Gobert year is the most embarrassing Jazz team of all time. It was more than deserving of being nuked on its own merits.

Jazz are strangely effective on defense right now. Not sure why exactly. Our guards generally are bigger than Cleveland's. Their lineup with Donovan, Garland and Merrill isn't physically imposing.

What happened to Deandre Hunter?

They could have.

With hindsight we could have just done the Gobert trade and built around Donovan. Walker was good enough to have instant impact. You keep NAW and develop him (we see he is now a plus starter). Keep Royce (still a good role player. Develop Keyonte.

It wasn't out of the question.
