Game Thread Jan 18, 2023, 07:00PM MT: Clippers vs Jazz

Added to Calendar: 01-18-23

I missed most of this game, but reading through the comments filled me in. So thanks to the JFC.
From what I saw it looked like business as usual. Lauri is a killer, Conley is a much needed general, and Kessler is looking like a future star.

Okay… great game but I have some complaints.

- the refs… wtf? Call all the stupid bs hand check rip through calls but guys getting murdered down low and nothing. The foul on Sexton was complete garbage. Literally had RoCo do a more obvious version of what they were trying to call and nothing. **** off refs.

- our broadcast stays losing… Boler “Reggie Jackson the Jayhawks from Kansas” nope… Holly “check out Preston’s story… undrafted blah blah blah” nope Holly he’s not undrafted. The the most exciting ****ing play of the game, or one of em, Ochai gets a huge block and the pan out to the baseline and show some fans… hey dumbasses the play is still going… they saved the ball… they catch the end of it as Sexton dunks and get back to the fans immediately… Jebus… I will settle for zero after basket shots of fans if we can just never ever miss an exciting play again. Stop trying to win a ****ing Emmy and just show the damn game.

All the players were great… no complaints there… great job.

"After further review, we decided we didn't want to admit we were wrong. Therefore, our hilariously terrible call stands"
Two hands on the ball should almost never be offensive unless they literally lead with the elbow… his arm also hit sexton before the contact with his face… just hilarious how chicken **** the refs are.

Every day Sexton moves further and further away from Cleveland Sexton. I'm at the point that we need to keep Conley to unlock Sexton. Trade Olynyk instead.

Now on the post game interview, Holly just made JC show his nails to the camera and told him how cute they look. Just so much cringe.

I’m not a fan.

Yup.
I see people saying we need a true number 1 option or superstar to go with lauri and i keep telling them we have the #1 option superstar. He is playing like a league mvp all nba 1st teamer.

Not yet in the traditional sense of #1 imo. We still have not seen him take closing shots most of these games and there are few reasons. First of all JC has done quite well in lot of games. Second of all Lauri is still not in the level of where he can take down double teams with consistent basis on 4th. He is not either that kind of an anchor under the rim that can establish position without a trouble or neither has great set of on-ball moves.

I think he needs either to master his version of Dirk-fade or develop some fakes and off the dribble moves to be the true #1. As of now he can be the 1A/1B kinda dude where JC rn is the other one of that duo. For the future we need either Lauri with a bit of more on-ball skills development or someone upgraded and younger version of JC.

One of the biggest questions rn is if he would get most of the touches to close tight games and could have great shots in most of them... It is an open question. IF JC gets traded that question will be answered. As it is rn I am OK him growing into that role slower as JC has been good in the clutch.

Trade Lauri, useless.

We need another weapon. A trio of lauri+JC+(? ) Could push us deeper to where we want to be. I don't think Hardy want to build a top heavy team like Lakers and sixers. Most superstars have ego and drama queens I don't think we are going to fish one. I think he prefer a bit chaos and unpredictability which is good for modern NBA.

Kessler for ROY? Will voters take him instead of Ben Simmons?

Kinda like the way I felt about her story about Sexton being like the little dog that thinks he’s a big dog. It was all well and good until she finished her thought about Sexton going in the paint like he’s a full grown man!

Yeah Holly, Collin might not be as big or tall as some but yeah, pretty sure the young Bull is a fully grown man.
