What's new

Jaren Jackson Jr. traded to the Jazz

Im only upset about Walter. Hendricks was absolute buns.

We traded a 1st rounder to take Walter.
We traded 3 firsts for the Suns picks.
And still gave more draft capital.

That's a lot of firsts for JJJ. We really need to hit on this years pick or we're doomed.

FWIW, I'm not a huge JJJ fan. I've always thought his defense was a bit overrated.

That said, now that he's on the Jazz I'm super excited. Even a bit overrated on defense he will make a HUGE difference for the Jazz.
Lauri-Kessler-JJJ-Ace-Keyonte is absurdly long.

Interesting who the Jazz DIDN'T give up too. BS still here. Cody still here. Flip still here. Thwomp still here. (But if there's more to come, I may regret this post.)

This was unexpected. Overall, seems like a fair price to pay. Feel bad that Hendricks is moving on, but that injury ruined his timeline here. WCJ was fun for a bit, but as an older rookie who was struggling, it’s not the end of the world. Anderson / Niang as throw-ins for salary still leave the top bigs on the roster.

Hope it doesn’t mess up the tank, because they need to keep that pick this year - especially since they just punted on the 2027 draft with this deal.

Career 57% TS%, only two seasons with over a BPM >1, only one season when his on/off per 100 poss was over +4.1 and that was 4 years ago. 2 of the past 3 seasons his net on/off has been negative.

You can't pay a guy like that $49 M. just not a winning player. low efficiency, doesn't pass, doesn't rebound and even his blocks are tailing off.

if you love this trade, you probably haven't been paying attention to JJJ in recent years and you're more in love with the idea of JJJ than who he really is at this point.
Using on/off stats to draw conclusions about players on bad teams is, and always will be, a major pet peeve of mine.

i'm sad about clayton and fear the jazz gave up on him too soon. and i'm not really a clayton guy.

also condolences to the collier haters. hardy loves the dude. he's here to stay.
