Jaren Jackson Jr. traded to the Jazz

We understand that if the Jazz move from 5 to 9, that means that four teams behind us jumped forward, right? So if you are a "NBA controls the lottery" person, that means that a punishment of the Jazz would have to be a punishment for all 5 bottom teams.

Just want to make sure we're remembering how the lottery works.

He played 27. Not sure how much more could've been done.
Call up the g league team on a trade day like that. Play tonje 35 minutes and whoever else. I don’t know if that’s even an option. Pacers roster versus us was awful though. We are gonna have to figure out ways to get more dirty bc I doubt that’s the last team to field a team like that against us this remaining stretch

Also, IIRC, there has never been 4 teams to jump ahead of 1 team. The odds of that are very low

I mean, you have to play good players when you only have 7. Pacers played that perfectly. I suspect resting 5 starters is not a tactic they can use again.
Why cant they use that tactic again?

They can't take a pick based on the current CBA. They could rig the lottery to make the Jazz fall to 9 if the Jazz don't lose enough games...
Rigging the lotto to make the Jazz fall from 5 to 9 (which seems to be the primary worry here -- correct me if I'm wrong) can only happen if all the other teams below us in the standings also get "screwed." While the impact on the Jazz would be worse, of course, there's no way to single out the Jazz among without preventing 1-4 seeds from falling to pick 5 and below.

Sorry, didn't see that @Strutter had made the point first.

If the NBA were to engage in such activities, I think collectively punishing tanking teams actually makes more sense than just the Jazz. The outcome for the Jazz remains the same.
