Jaren Jackson Jr. traded to the Jazz

The biggest concern, imo, is the lack of rebounding. That guy should be a board vaccuum. He should have no problem averaging at least 8 per game. Double digits should be his goal every game. That is a concern, and could become a real problem given his role on the team. With Nurk or Kessler on the floor at the same time, it isn't as big a deal, but I could see that being a real limiting factor going forward.

Also was it just my limited opportunity to watch the whole game, or does he seem to really take some plays off, like more than most? That was a bit underwhelming thing to see. Again, I didn't get to see the whole game, and obviously not every person is on every second of every game but it seemed that fairly often, too often for my liking, he was content just to sit and watch rather than get in there and get his hands dirty.

How do you see his role developing in the future then? I’d assume the intention isn’t to play him as a full-time five, except for short stints here and there.

Yes, that is likely his role, I mean it is what he has been playing, but there will absolutely be times he needs to be The Big on the floor, and if he has the mindset that someone else will get the rebounds, that is unlikely to change when he is expected to fill that role. I just have real concerns over a big man that is barely averaging 5 boards per game. If he is expected to be the big game we were hunting, and we did burn assets to get him, then he needs to step it up and at least give Nurk and Kessler a run for their money in that category.

I know he is learning what his role is here, that is going to be rough at the outset, but 3 boards in his first game wasn't exactly awe-inspiring. I would have expected at least 5. But we can accept that as he gets his feet wet, it's fine. But after a dozen or so games he should have settled in enough that we see that number starting to climb. Really it is the biggest concern I have of his, but if his defense is as advertised and his scoring and outside shot are there, it is of course a bit less of an issue, but I could see that being the thing we are harping on into next season if we see it costing us in games.

At the moment when Nurk is on the court, every available rebound is his.

It was done in a joking way, but when Lauri grabbed an uncontested ball right in front of Nurk, he immediately reacted "hey, that was mine!".

Yeah, I just wish every big on our team had that same attitude. You can have that rebound when you pry it from my cold dead fingers, kind of thing.
