JaVale McGee Waived

Damn he has a 9ft6.5 inch standing reach. I think Quin might get an aneurysm watching McGee play grabass on the floor.

I think he'll go to Dallas, LAC, Sac (just because of the George Karl connection), or Toronto since Masai gave him the big contract he's on and they need a defensive big

I don't think Karl really likes him. Denver traded for McGee but Karl never really played him that much, certaintly not the minutes he got on Washington.

I didn't say they didn't spend any money, i just said they are cheap. They spend just enough to meet the floor and keep fans like you happy. they dont go all out and spend to win tho. profits>winning. im not criticizin them for it, it's a viable strategy in the business in the nba. im not sayin its bad. im just sayin it like it is. dont hate me, hate the game.

So they spend up to the tax line, commit themselves to 4 yr contracts for role players and then can't offer Hayward and Favors new contracts when they come up again, or are forced to not match for Gobert?

Millers paid the tax when Utah was competing for the playoffs with Deron and company. They were also one of the highest payroll teams in 2010-11 (7th overall). Jazz had dropped to 16th in 12-13 as they were unwinding contracts (AK's contract expiring was the major reason). But they still went out and signed FA's to try to compete (Mo, Foye, etc.) You do realize it's pretty hard to exceed the cap by very much UNTIL you start re-signing a bunch of your own players, right? Jazz only have $2M left of their MLE this season. They've pretty much spent all they can (a couple of minor exceptions would have been left, IIRC).

Even next year they'd have to renounce their exceptions to sign a max level player. Then they have the room-MLE ($2.5M). It's not like Utah can go out and offer max contracts to Matthews and Green or Middleton because they want to spend up to the tax line.
