I agree with this. If the Jazz win out and get the 3 seed, Portland drops to 4, SA or NOLA ends up in a tie with OKC, wins the tie-breaker and drops OKC to 6th.

If Utah loses a game and falls into a tie with OKC and either SA or NOLA, OKC will be 4th, the Jazz 5th and the other team 6th due to tie-breakers.

The only other scenario is that Utah loses two games, falls below OKC and either SA or NOLA, and takes the 6th seed, playing Podtland in the first round.

Again, this assumes OKC wins its final two games. Would be nice if Miami bears them.

So the likely scenarios are:

- Jazz (3) have home court against OKC (6)
- Jazz (5) open at OKC (4)
- Jazz (6) open at Portland (3)

...unless OKC loses another game.

You would think the second scenario is the most likely, but the Jazz could lose to Golden State (or the Lakers) and still get the 3rd seed if Portland loses at Denver and the Jazz win in Portland and either NO or SA has 48 wins. That four way tie would put the Jazz at 3 and the OKC at 6. If NO loses to the Clippers, but beats San Antonio in this scenario, then the Jazz get the 4th seed in a 3-way tie with OKC and Portland.

The lesson here is that we have to hope the Clippers beat NO. It's our only realistic chance at not having to play OKC if we're the 3 seed and our only chance at HC against OKC as a 4 seed.

Milwaukee, Miami and Washington or all going to try to lose hoping they get the 7 seed with the 8 seed and Toronto as the consolation prize. No one wants to end up with the 6 seed and play Cleveland or Philly. Miami isn't helping here.

Too complicated for me, I like the scenario where we just win out and get the 3rd seed. We are at the point where it doesn't matter what the other teams do, we control our own destiny.

Except the Thunder are the 5th best rebounding team in the NBA, Utah is 20th. Utah is also 20th in turning over the ball and OKC creates a lot of turnovers. They're the only team in the WC, other than the Rockets that we have a losing record against.
 
I dont want to be that guy but..... it was the Lakers who denied us a playoff birth 3 years ago
 
i wonder if kuzma is going to play. i know ingram is out. Lopez is back, but kuzma and lonzo remain questionable

I would by far prefer to play any other team 3 through 9 (including Denver) in the first round other than OKC.

Minnesota and Denver can't defend for ****.

San Antonio can't win on the road to save their lives.

Portland and NOP are neutralized by The Gobert factor alone. Lillard and CJ would both have to put up 30+ each every game for them to have a chance. Gobert would break AD's spirit by Game 3.

I don't care how inefficient Locke says they are - you take three all-stars and glue guys like Adams/Brewer/Felton and you got a very tough out in any 7 games series.

I don't get why the Lakers would put them out there with 3 games remaining and risk further injury but what do I know? They have absolutely nothing to gain and a lot to lose if something were to unfortunately happen to one of those guys.
