What's new

Jazz (26-12) at Wizards (13-25), Sunday 1/12/20, 1:30pmMT, 3:30pmET

WHAT A COMEBACK

I thought we were finished in first half. We weren't able to move the ball around very well on offense, and the wizards were shooting well.

Then Clarkson and Gobert decided to take over the 2nd half. Gutsy comeback win to keep the streak alive.

This is all great and all... we can beat bad teams. Which is what most of what the NBA is. Look at the teams we’ve played over this wonderful 20 game stretch. Bad to pretty weak I’d say. None of this matters if we you can’t beat the best 2 or 3 teams in the league.

The real question is: can we beat the Bucks in a 7 game series? Can we beat the Lakers? The Clippers? The Celtics?

I want to believe - I’m starting to believe - but much of this is fool’s gold - we haven’t been tested by the best yet.

These are legitimate questions. We are definitely improving, and putting ourselves in a position to beat those teams.
I only see one real weakness on the jazz, which is defensive rebounding.

Yes, defensive rebounding in crunch time cost Utah two or three games alone but overall they're doing well (74.4% DREB%, 5th in the league)
Utah's biggest issue is Gobert's insane workload.

If there’s anything a few posters here have taught me, it’s that Mitchell is just a chucker who was able to chuck his way to success. Exum wasn’t afforded that opportunity. Toda shows we don’t need Mitchell. Trade Conley and Mitchell for Exum and Love.

If we’re fortunate to get Exum back, we’ll need to come to grips with the fact that Snyder just hates Exum for no good reason. He’s always held him back. So we’ll need to fire Snyder and hire a replacement. What’s Isiah Thomas doing these days? Think Adrian Dantley would be interested?

through jan 12th games.

JC is an absolute gunner of a player, but has the ability to make the pass while in attack mode when it’s the obvious correct play. How many combo guards get doubled in the post and found Gobert for the wide open 2 pts, and he did it in a variety of ways last night. Finding Gobert while in the post, dumping it off to Gobert on the drive, and the lockout to O’Neale for an open three. He’s very similar to Lou Williams, but not sure getting buckets for his teammates has ever really been a part of his game the way it is for Clarkson.
