Jazz and Braille End Buyout Talks, Weigh Trade Scenarios

Are we really fussing about the 15th player on the roster? The only player who could have made the team that wouldn't is Chris Quinn (which is kinda sad, i like him) but he would be the fifth point guard on the roster (behind Mo, Tinsley, Watson, Foye) so he wouldn't really have any play time anyway.

The only reason that it bothers me is that it removes any wiggle room the Jazz have until he is no longer on roster. If the Jazz have a string of bad luck and Kanter, Big Al and Evans get hurt the Jazz cannot bring a 3rd string big such as Darnell jackson ontot he team because we have 15 players.

Yes there are options for removing Braille but as long as he is on the team there is not room to manuever.

Once he's gone, what will be the main focus of our ire?

I'm going to be honest, with CJ gone if Roger is gone I'm afraid I would direct my angst at innocent bench players that just don't deserve it.

I feel bad for Watson, he just doesn't deserve what's coming when Braille is gone.

Earl can handle it.

I think it's apparent Watson's knee is not as far along as we were originally led to believe. Otherwise Chris Quinn would have been long gone by now.

I'm not sure how much Earl will be playing.

As I predicted from Day 1 Randy Foye will be the new CJ around here. He has never produced in his career in the role Utah is expecting him to take on (back up combo guard). I suspect the "Can The Randy Foye Experiment Please End" thread will be created no later than November 7.

The Jazz are at least three deep at every position.
Point: Mo, Foye, Tinsley, Watson, Burks.
Shooting Guard: Hayward, Burks, Foye, Murphy.
Small Forward: Marvin, Carroll, Hayward, Evans, Millsap.
PF: Millsap, Favors, Evans, Marvin, Kanter.
C: Al, Kanter, Favors

The only position that the Jazz are even three deep at is the C spot, and if those three players get injured simutaniosly, I see two options: Play Millsap at the 5, I think he could take it, or force Roger to honor his contract and have him play Center just for the entertainment of the crowd. (what does it sound like when bones break?)............

(bonus question: who would be better at the C; Millsap or Marvin?)

Lakers already waived or are about to waive Andrew Goudelock, a second-year, undersized shooting guard, who had a few solid outings during his rookie year. Since they are going to waive him anyways, I would see if the Lakers would trade Goudelock to Utah for RB (maybe Utah throws in a future second round pick in 2019). Utah saves money and gets a young shooting guard who showed flashes that he could play. He is definitely better than and more useful than any of the scrubs Utah invited to camp, with the exception of Quinn (but Utah doesn't have any use for another PG).

Raja Bell and Jazz have a buyout settlement in place, but it rests on Bell's ability to find a contract elsewhere. So far, still no takers.

.....you may now return to your to boo or not to boo discussions.

That's funny stuff right there.

Also, weighing trade possibilities? What does that mean? Hey Lakers, we'll trade you Roger Braille for a Dyan Cannon autograph? Not enough? Dammit. Hey Heat, we'll trade you Roger Braille for an Andy Garcia autograph...dammit.

The company line. A hard nosed defender. lmao. He is toast, and frankly was always overrated on defense. He was never a lock down defender. Kobe always ending up torching him.
Sure he competed hard against Kobe in those Suns Lakers battles, but he was by no means a lock down Kobe killer.

How'd you find that?

I'm starting a Raja Bell fund.
For each dollar you give, we get a dollar closer to our $2.5 million goal.
After getting to $2.5 mil, we drug Raja, put him in a body bag and make him feel like he's taken a trip to LA but really he's still in Miami.
In Miami, we propose a contract of our own agreement. Get him to sign the contract. Tell him to play tomorow. Organize a 10,000 people stadium mob.
Raja comes to his first game, notices the crowd. Thinks it's all good. Crowd welcomes Raja back. Ecstatic to seem him.
We introduced Raja first and then the other 4 members of his new WNBA team. Raja confused. Looks at self in mirror. Notices we gave him a sex change.
BAM! $2.5 million dollars spent well.

Several sources believe the Jazz will keep Raja Bell simply so he doesn't sign with the Lakers. Utah and L.A. will compete for playoff spot.

How weird of a year is it for this to possibly be the case?

Do they really think that RB would make that much of a difference to the Lakers? Would he win games for them? Or maybe he would ruin chemistry on their team like he did for Utah.

Sometimes adding a new player, even if it is RB, can create a shot in the arm for a team. I can understand the Jazz not wanting to do that for the Lakers. If he does help the Lakers succeed, Utah would look like fools and fans (especially this anti-Laker LA native) would not be happy.

Puh-leeze. That is the last thing holding up a buyout.

I called this one quite a while ago - as did many others. Braille simply wants to get his full contract. He'd only agree to a buyout IF another team was going to sign him. Apparently, there are no takers. So better to sit and collect a full check than be told by 29 other teams that they don't want you, either.
