Jazz at Clippers

Mitchell is our most dynamic player with the ball in his hands. He puts more pressure on the defense than any of our guards. Plus he's strong and fast enough to overpower other PGs.

which is why Conley needs to go. Conley isn’t effective as a spot up shooting guard. Conley needs to be the ball-handler to be effective.

and playing both he and Mitchell in the backcourt make us too easy to see over and score on.

it’s incredible to say, but we absolutely are a better team without Conley. We’re longer, more dynamic, and much better defensively. Conley was a really bad mistake unless we can quickly flip him for a positive.

The problem isn’t getting conley integrated. The problem is that Conley is a horrific fit. The problem is two folded:

1. He needs the ball to be effective. But taking the ball out of Mitchell’s hands is asinine.

2. Playing he and Mitchell together make us too small and a defensive liability.

Conley would look okay if Mitchell and jingles weren’t here. If he could be the primary scorer, I’m sure he’d look decent. But this isn’t a lottery bound Memphis team.

If I were Lindsey, I’d be doing everything possible to unload Conley for some serviceable (bigger) parts.
This.

Even if Mitchell were 6'3" instead of 6'1" we'd still be extremely undersized. And we currently have no answer to an elite PF or even elite SFs in a 7 game series (as great as this win was).

Royce and Ingles were switching on the perimeter. A bit of Bogey too. It worked. Kawhi takes time to size up who's guarding him, and the switching caught him off guard.

If Conley and Mitchell are out there... wouldn’t the clippers then use screens to force switches to where Conley would’ve been taken into the post? They tried it a few times with Clarkson and it worked once and failed once. I can only imagine what types of post ups Doc would’ve drawn up with Conley and Mitchell playing

It's been a long time since the Jazz had a scorer like Clarkson coming off the bench or starting besides Don. He's definitely a chucker, but that's what scorers do. If he's on the floor, there's extra pressure on the defense because he can and will score in a variety of ways. He's quick, good ball handler, crafty, and relentless. The best thing about having him is Quin is going to let him play, and be him. Some days he'll shoot 60%, some will be 30%, but he is definitely a scorer. The Jazz needed another scorer, and they got it for Exum, who I liked, but wasn't being used at all and will never have the scoring chops Clarkson has. Great trade for both. The Jazz now have two guys who you can give the ball and they can get a shot.

Nice post, would rep.

How much is Zubac making? He seemed pretty damn good tonight. Wish we had him instead of Davis. He outworked Gobert.

Don't forget about Bojan. Sneaky underrated scorer from 3 levels. Another guy who has shocked us this season by proving to be more than just a shooter. Great signing by DL.
