Jazz at Dubs Official Game Thread -- 8:30PM MT: NBATV, ROOT

All the Hayward lovers usually talk about how his all around play is great even when his shot is off. Where was that today?

Took until nearly Christmas, but Hayward finally had a poor all-around game. Hayward haters win.

Watch the game ,Jazz were tight from the opening shot and tell me when they loosened up ....they havent

I gotta say that I don't quite understand the coach is making them tight theory as we're not tight against lesser teams. To me it's the lack of a real leader on the court, somebody that can take charge and is not intimidated. Hayward is a good player but unfortunately he is not that guy, not from my perspective. George Hill is the guy that can restore order with his presence and demeanor. He knows instinctively when to delegate and when to take charge. Without that alpha dog, everybody keeps looking at somebody else to step up, shirking, and the snowball effect goes into effect. The sad thing to me is that we looked better against this team minus Hayward and Hood.

Lol, I guess you have forgotten what type of player Favors is. He will demand more attention than Hill offensively. Attention creates space. We were lacking PG play but we were also lacking play from everyone not named Gobert or Inlges. We were lacking spacing but we also lacked hitting wide open shots that creates more of a spacing issue than anything. Jazz laid an egg.
It just ****ing disgusts me how Hayward always disappears in games like this. Everytime we play the ultra-elite/championship caliber teams, he ****s his pants. Just when I'm about ready to join the "Hayward is God" club, games like this remind me why a team with Hayward as their best player is nothing more than a team that crumbles in the playoffs when the pressure/stakes are higher.

Also, it turns out Hayward being guarded by a SF w/ typical center size and length isnt a good matchup for him if he has to be the primary creator off the dribble.

Isn't it getting old that our guys sit out these games for the lamest excuses? Hood and gas? We all know wht happened, he drank too much last night. And favors? Come on. When we miss out on a good seed or miss out on the playoffs you come to realize that every game counts. Lose to the warriors? That's fine. They're an awesome team. But at least give yourself a chance. When half your roster doesn't bother to show up due to lame excuses, it tells me that they just really don't care.

If I were gobert I'd be pissed. He's got that alpha dog mentality. He's surrounded by wusses. He'd fit in better in San Antonio and their winning mentality. We just don't seem to care enough to compete. This roster is physically talented but so mentally weak

annnnddd just on time post game that we lost ..

1. We missed too many open looks in the 1st quarter. That let the Warriors sag off guys like Exum, Diaw, and Mack to cover our main scorers and clog passing lanes as they neither respected our PG's drives or respect their shooting when our other players drived.
2. Mack got penetration but he typically didnt make good decisions, same with Exum, once he got there.
3. Hood had diarrhea.
4. We can't ask Hayward to cover Durant on one end and be the primary ball-handler on offense against KD/Iggy. Too much to ask from Hayward and expect an effective offensive showing.
5. Diaw has to hit shots when they leave him completely open like they did tonight or he is hard to play, or at least the entire purpose of him being on the court is mostly lost.
6. Turnovers

I think most of our problems are alleviated by Hill being back. He will limit TO's, make good decisions off the bounce, and open up our players for shots in better rhythm. Favors being back will be nice, but I dont think we can really get away with playing Favors with Gobert too much against them. The key is having Hill to space the floor and make it easier on Hood/Hayward.
