What's new

Jazz at Kings - 8 PM Mountain Time

I dont see an option. Our only shot was, and is through the draft. We all hoped for a top 3 pick to pair with him. I was hoping for Wiggins to pair with him. I thought Wiggins could eventually be the 1 and Hayward and 2, and that would be enough to be a top team in the West.

Since that scenario didn't pan out we are stuck with a really young Exum who could be really good down the line. So who out of those players mentioned about would you most like with Hayward, and Exum as our core? Since this is the reality I have to deal with it.

If we want an offensive No.1 option, pretty much the only sure thing is Okafor. Mudiay could be good too, but we have another 2 PG projects on our hands, so I don't know if it makes sense to draft yet another one. Towns has high potential, but also lower floor.

Okafor doesn't fit Quin's offensive vision though.

If drafting someone capable of being a legitimate #1 option was our #1 priority I would probably take Hezonja, though I kind of fear he may just be the exact same player that Burks is.

I have worse fears for Hezonja... but i get what you mean.

About Okafor - indeed, feeding the bigs for post play doesn't seem to be big part of the system. He's probably a better passer than Kanter out of the post, though, so that might help in the overall ball movement... Right now, if you give the ball to Kanter in the post, there's pretty much no way it's getting out of there. The only thought on his mind is to score. From what I've seen from Duke, Okafor actually passes the ball out of the post when he doesn't manage to establish good position or when he sees an open man on the perimeter. If Okafor is as good as we think in the low post, we can probably adapt the system to fit that specific elite skill of his - for example, the passing and movement might incorporate the goal of creating good low-post position for Okafor along with the other things Snyder wants to accomplish. Think Spurs 2005 with Duncan...

I would love to get Mudiay, I can see him being a John Wall like player. Too bad we already have Exum though... I don't think we could justify drafting him. Mudiay is a lot more along than Exum... I must have patience.

Ehh, not sure about that. Mudiay is going to have the same problem Exum did, when he starts playing next year he will have taken about 8 months off of competitive basketball.

I really want to start Exum... and I think Burke could be a great playmaker and scorer off the bench...

So we can have even worse starts? No thanks.

Until Exum does something other than walk the ball up the court and pass the ball around the perimeter, I don't want to see him start. Even Korver is more aggressive in taking the ball to the rack, and he has zero athleticism.

Exum is one of the main problems with this team right now. We desperately need him to give us some punch off the bench. We desperately need him to give us a spark. Drive, draw fouls, create open shots for players. I haven't even seen him attempt to take the ball to the rack in games and games. If he isnt going to do this, why even play him?

So if we draft Okafor, who plays with him, and who goes? Favors, Kanter, or Gobert.

Isn't okafor another Kanter? Allllllll offense and zero defense? I've only seen Duke play once so I'm not even close to being an expert on this guy.

Seeing our terrible shooting, I'm tempted to look at some talented wings. We need bigs, wings that can shoot, and PGs who can defend and create... Basically, we need a new team other than Hayward, Burks, and Gobert.

Disagree. He just needs a #2 (and #3-5) who can be more consistent. No one is showing up to every game right now besides Hayward. I think Burks was starting to get it going, but who knows with this shoulder thing. Also maybe if Hayward had a better defense he could be a #1 option. Paul George is a #1 option on a great team despite not being the best individual offensive player because his team's defense is so good so he doesn't have to be a maniac every game to win.

Hayward has to play lights out every game for us to have a chance to win, especially if Favors is coasting through a game.

Trouble here is other teams key on Hayward.

Jazz are easy now. Key on Hayward and unless he is lights out, we lose.

What started out as a fun season to watch has become the worst in 6 years.

I realize we are tanking, but wow, it is painful

Yep, totally agree. Burks was going under screens while guarding Stauskas... smh
Then he fights through a screen perfectly and gets called for a foul

Good thought.

All of this. . .

canadian chocolate looked pretty good last night. if he pans out he would be a little peja with some ginobli in it. nothing against hood, but i was secretly wishing stauskas to fall to our lap.

Not sure, but unless he is unstoppable on offense I don't want another Kanter. We need a legit star if we get a high pick this year. I'm just not seeing anyone thats getting me too excited yet. I need to watch some more Duke games to key in on him. I've only seen part of one game. Need more info.

I am wondering where the player leadership is. Have they all given up hope?

I don't always agree with Harpring, but he was spot on when he said that once you get on a losing streak it feels like that's weighing you down. I think we're definitely seeing that from the players now. Hopefully they can break out of it and give they Spurs a run for their money tonight.

If the jazz win tonight will there be streamers?

Also, the jazz need a new promotion, first 5000 fans get an Enes Kanter mouth gaurd.
