"In the Heat of the Night" classic line! "You got a name, boy?" Rod Stiger saying that to Sidney Poitier also known as "Virgil Tibbs!"

It's a human need to be understood. You are one of the posters that make this place welcoming. My intent is to defend you and who you are tbo.

I think the difference between the expectations and beliefs about places like LA and NY vs. somewhere like SLC is relevant. If someone makes a racial comment in LA or NY, is it easier to think “wow, there are racists here,” as opposed to hearing it in Utah and thinking “wow, they are racists here”? I think the difference is quite subtle, yet very important.

Is that really a classic line, or are you just reminding everyone what your worldview is?

It’s a good question. And from the evidence I would think that yes you can get a life time ban from that. Sounds completely dumb but they could just accuse you of homophobic remarks.

Love all the racial **** by Nolte to Murphy in 48 Hours. And Murphy back at him. Great, great movie.

Until the Jazz have onpenly gay players on the roster, homophobic slurs will slide. Gail talked about how racial remarks like what happened on Monday night also affect our players. She wanted to protect them so they will be respected in our community.

I don't think that she'll open the can of worms that is homophobic slurs until she has to cross that bridge.

Nope. If you ignore them it's racist.

Personally, I'll just stay at home and watch games on tv from now on. This entire thing is unfair to us fans who are genuine good people and that is the extreme majority of us.

Strange how the more removed from slavery and more equality we get the more sensitive we've become. It's almost as if these hypersensitive AF white boys need something racist to happen to wallow in their guilt.

In the context of this thread.....it's a classic line! In the movie, Tibbs wasn't offended by the expression and just went about the business of proving he was just an ordinary man with police know how to solve homicides that Stiger did not have! Maybe not a classic line...but certainly a classic movie!
