He is getting waived to join the Stampede. They signed another guy, Eric Atkins, also for the same reason.

Incorrect. His assist to turnover ratio is almost 3 to 1.
He's a pure point guard who can't shoot but has good court vision and takes care of the ball. His defense is acceptable because he hustles and never quits.

U get excited about any claiming of any fringe NBA player.
Jazz waived Eric Atkins and Phil Pressey.

Because it means the Stampede gets their rights if they want to go to the D-League.
It's basically Utah paying these guys 50K up front to join the Stampede. That is what they get for being waived, then an extra 25K (or whatever the D-League salary is).
