What's new

Jazz coaching staff MUST get Horny.

TyCo needs to hire a veteran coach to assist him, someone who has been through this and can give him advice. Many coaches hire their former head coach, but since most of Corbin's are either dead or retired, he should reach out to someone local who can help him out.

For a moment there, I thought you were insinuating that Nissalke was dead. I don't have much on the updates these days.

I would LOVE to have Horny on board. Intelligent, hard-working, and seems to truly care about the Jazz.

The Jazz are retarded if they haven't even reached out to him. Who has a stronger candidacy for assistant? Terry Porter, Mike Brown? Kenny Natt? Maybe as primary assistants, but Hornacek is saying they haven't even contacted him, which concerns me and I think is the clearest sign that there's a significant departure from a managerial standpoint since LHM said the head coaching job was Hornacek's when it was available.

Are they just going to have Ty and Scotty as coaches tonight?

he is at shootaround this morning so looking good for him to be an assistant.

You know, until I had the chance to hear Matt Harpring's "analysis" on a nightly basis, I believed he would make a good coach. Now? Not so much.

YB brings up a good point. The lead assistant should probably have a lot of experience as a lead and/or assistant coach. But I would like Hornacek to have a place on this staff full-time. If the Jazz are going to (be forced to) change the coaching situation significantly, they should bring in someone that's familiar with what they've done, but also be relatively fresh blood with (hopefully) fresh ideas. I think Hornacek brings those things.

Jazz's Hornacek said he is interested in becoming Utah assistant but first must sit down with Corbin, O'Connor once things slow down.

Sounds like a done deal to me, they just need time to tie everything down.
