I think if anyone won 35 out of 47 states they would have been elected lol.

I started looking this up. I think you can win the electoral college if you only win California, New York, Texas, Florida, Illinois, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Georgia, Michigan, New Jersey, Virginia, and one of any other state. So you could go 38-12 and lose the electoral college. :)
