Jazz Free Agency Summer of 2018

The excuse on Favors is that he's been hurt and playing through an injury the last 5 years.

Regardless, the guy can't hit a consistent 3 and only played 17.9 mpg against Houston. He couldn't stay on the court against Golden State in 2017 either.

He gives us Rudy insurance... he gives us variance... we should run some switching schemes with him... he’s on a value deal too (maybe), so when wizards or bucks need a center you have something to offer.

If we mention his issues against two teams let’s also mention he beasted OKC and carried us two years ago against the clips... on one damn leg.

Knicks offer Hezonja - http://amicohoops.net/knicks-make-offer-to-hezonja/

Looks like "some of the midlevel". We can beat that and keep Favors if that is our plan.
I’d be all for beating that offer. I think he’d have great potential under Snyder. Plus, I’m fully on board with keeping Favors and Exum. I don’t see the Jazz getting better than them on the open market, so they might as well keep the roster strong and have value contracts that can become tradeable assets when a bigger trade opportunity comes around.

Looking at some of the deals that are coming together, I’m actually feeling like Thabo, Jonas and Ekpe are all great values. Better to not screw up the cap with bad deals when we’ve already got 3 great ones as insurance already in Utah. Bring them back, look at trades at the deadline and then let them expire after this season.

My only thing is I’d like to add a guy on a one plus one deal to churn over one of those spots... but we don’t have a spot yet...

The Lakers keep losing out on free agents because they suck. They have too much "potential" to try to tank for their draft pick. They need to build a winning culture to lure a big fish. I fully expect them to try to win this year so they can sell KD, Klay others on LA next summer.
Nope, not the case at all. They're losing out on FA's because the two they want are Kawhi and Lebron. James may not sign until they get Kawhi. And SA doesn't want to accept peanuts for Leonard. Magic is just being smart. Kawhi is 100% going there next season. After all, he was demanding a trade to the Lakers. Lebron may sign a 1yr deal with Cavs and join Kawhi next season in LA. They also need a 5 and will be 1 yr closer to dealing Deng's albatross of a contract. I see Lakers are meeting with Capela. That would be a great acquisition. But he's a RFA, right? Rockets probably match. Or maybe DAJ next year. He only signed a 1+1. Add in Kuzma at PF and Ball at PG, with Hart and Ingram off the bench. That's a damn good line-up.

They don't have to win this year to "sell" any FA's on the team. It's the Lakers. They'll get Lebron. They'll get Kawhi. They've already chosen their two superstars. They could win 10 games this year and it wouldn't change a thing. Of course if LaVar keeps being an *******, then Lonzo might need to be traded.

I would be okay with Favors (2 years), Exum (4 year deal $8 per), and Hezonja.

One thing to be noted... new owner of rockets has most of his worth tied up in the rockets and may not be as willing to spend no matter what... already let Ariza walk on a deal they could have figured out... mbah a Moute next?

Ariza is huge for them... Tucker is good an switchable but Ariza is long and guards the guys like DM. That team doesn’t scare me... I wouldn’t build to adapt for them... GS, Boston, wherever LBJ goes... those are the teams to think about. CP deal will end up being a millstone.
