He had one bad game. They did get swept obviously but he was a HUGE reason in their complete shift on the defensive end. If you consider that baseline "starter-level" money is around 15 million I think Portland did well, especially if there's a large chunk unguaranteed year 4. I think you'll see worse players get more next Summer.

I really like Lavine. Id definitely match that. Ive been saying for years that he is better than Wiggins. Look at what Wiggins got.

Y'all are happy with what we got Exum for and you wouldn't pay Lavine that? Exum hasnt even shown that he can even be a reliable backup. Its all hopes and promises with him. Lavine can virtually guarantee you that he can average 20+ ppg. He is really good shooter, super athletic, can pass, great handles. Pretty much the entire offensive package. Its only his defense that is questionable. But he is just 23 years old. Barely. He has proven that his knee is fine too.

If you look at all the 20+ ppg game scorers in the league they all command at least 20 mil per game. But for some reason Zach Lavine who is still super young and could conceivably get even better, isnt worth it? Makes a lot of sense.

Ive never said he was gonna be a great player, but the dude is a good player. The opinions of him around here are quite frankly stupid and it forces me to make arguments for him that make it sound like I think he is great.

Looking ahead to next offseason, I don’t expect we will be making any big splash then either, especially if we make the second round of the playoffs again. Literally everyone is going to be able to make a max slot next offseason.

If I had to guess — probably just replacing Burks, resigning Ricky, and guaranteeing Favs, with maybe other minor moves around the margins.

From the press conference comments yesterday, I see the Jazz rolling with this core until they either win a championship or miss the playoffs.

I think it's actually pretty obvious what they are doing. They're keeping flexibility to sign a star, and if not they are building a cohesive unit that is deep and defensive-minded. We have the free agency periods of 2019 and 2020 with Donovan on his rookie deal. Jazz are going to keep money available to sign a star during those free agency periods (about 33-35 million depending on which Summer) and if nobody comes, then they will do as you say and probably guarantee Faves, bring back other useful players on the roster.

I don't think your last statement is true at all. Plan A would be to sign a star and they would give up the "core" to pair a star with Mitch and Gobert in a heartbeat. The stars available were long shots this summer but I mean Donovan wouldn't be recruiting to PG if the Jazz weren't on board with that. Plan B if a star does not sign is to retain the core. I don't think you'll see the Jazz make a "splash" on random non-star FAs until Donovan's rookie deal is up, allowing them to preserve flexibility and get that 3rd guy.
