Jazz front runner for Conley

What I am somewhat concerned about is giving up the #23 pick before the draft
Draft this year seems wide open
Perhaps someone Jazz really liked fell to the #23 spot and Jazz traded it away

So you think our best course of action is to sign a few players at their level and hope to trade them for a better player in the future instead of signing a much much better player right now? Okay.

We can sign as many of those level players as we want any time. They are easy to come by.
Right? Don't you think so?

how much does Brook Lopez cost at free agency last summer?

What about Julius Randle?

How does SLC compare to Milwaukee or New Orleans?

Getting them both will likely get us FARTHER than what Mike Conley and his 30mil would've gotten us.

heck, even if both of them suck balls, how much do you think it would've hurt the jazzfanz if we just straight up trade them both for someone like, you know, Prozingis?

Is there any rules making us have to sign Thabo, Neto or Niang once we've missed out on KD or Kawhi? ANY?

how much of hindsight would've taken you to make the conclusion of "Brook Lopez > Georgis Niang"?

or "Julius Randle > Ekpe Udoh"?

Porzingis went for a lot more than that in a trade.

Randle and Lopez together dont make us better than Conley would. I would rather get the better player.

There are players I want more than Conley but he is really good and makes us much better. If we cant land a big name in FA he is my next choice. We can also still get those type of signings you mentioned after getting Conley. We still have the TPE and MLE to sign players like that. We also can still pick up players like Royce and Ingles that make a huge difference.

Players like Randle and Lopez still have to choose to come here as well. Just because they signed for that amount somewhere does not mean they would here.

Those types of players sign for less somewhere the believe they can win a chip or they can get lots of playing time to show off their talents. We were not a landing space for that type of player last year.

Maybe if we get Conley we can be a place players want to sign for less because they think we might win it all.

I'd rather have D Lo over Conley

I think most would. End of the day, I can't see Harris or D Lo coming here in favor of other offers, but would love to be wrong.. If that's the case, it's basically a strikeout for us in free agency regardless of what other mid-tier guys you bring in.

We are a worse spot for both of those players last year, there is a reason they didnt consider us.
2nd round in the western conference playoffs worse than 1st round in the East? yes there is a reason. reason is DL would rather sign someone like Georgis Niang than actually being proactive in the free agency market.

What are we really going to get with the 23rd pick, another Grayson Allen or Tony Bradley? If it was a top 10 pick I would understand your concern but I see no reason to be reluctant to give up the 23rd pick to acquire a top 7 or 8 point guard that will dramatically improve the team.

Bucks had a better team than us this year and had playing time for him. Lopez doesnt want to play behind Gobert and probably Favors. You are also just assuming he wasnt proactive. Just because we didnt sign someone doesnt mean he wasnt proactive. I am pretty sure he was very proactive looking at FAs.
