Jazz front runner for Conley

Unless you think Snyder is going to speed up the pace and reduce Mitchells touches then Conley a ball dominant PG in Memphis will not have the ball in his hands as much. Just off that I don't think Conley averages over 20 ppg . He'll average in the upper teens .

Imagine...

Donovan takes the next step to stardom and averages around 25/26 PPG on much higher efficiency because he's getting cleaner looks

Conley averages an efficient 17/18 PPG and 6/7 APG

Rudy is Rudy

We keep Favs and he's anywhere close to what he was last year.

Ingles returns to his shooting form of two years ago because having Conley reduces how much he's asked to do.

Maybe Royce improves.

All logical possibilities.

That is a scary group capable of beating anyone.

I have championship goals. And to get there you have to be willing to take a chance at some point. Ya gotta risk it for that biscuit. We can't play the longterm game trying to wait for the ideal move forever because time will just pass us by. And we'll look back and regret not making a move.

God, thinking about it, the above paragraph reminds me of my teenage years tbh. I wasted so many good opportunities that were presented to me because I expected even better things would come along later or thought "hey I'm young I have time". **** I'm glad that I eventually stopped living that way.
Interesting to see different perceptions. I see Conley as the safe bet. I see chasing Russell or Tobias as swinging for the fences, especially Russell.

We can most likely get Conley and he will make us better. But Russell is a bigger risk but has the chance for a much bigger reward. We could miss on getting him. But he is a much better player than Conley was at the same age and has a higher upside. He could turn into a perennial all-star or even all-NBA level player for years and is the same age as Mitchell. But he also could not improve. I would rather reach for the bigger reward that more likely gets us somewhere. But Conley is a good consolation prize if the Jazz strike out on him and Tobias or if we just think we cant take a risk and try and want to go the safe route.

I also think the best way to win a championship is to make yourself a good team that is in the top 3/4 in your conference for multiple years and hope things work out for you one year. Its pretty rare that a team goes all in for a year or two and it works out. But it did for Raptors but it took a lot of luck. I wish we had traded Gobert for Kawhi though. I would have traded Gobert for AD as well though if NO would have gone for that.

Go all in one year maybe 2 ? See the raptors? So Conley works.

Long term goals? We need to build in the draft then and thru trades because no free agents will come here.
1, not true
2, explain Boozer, Okur or Joe Johnson
3, we are currently doing ourselves the complete opposite right now by burning picks after picks, while not accumulating enough assets to put ourselves in a position to succeed in any trade talks.

Is there a way to:

Trade Exum and Korver for Conley (pretty sure yes cap wise if we renounce everyone)...

Then opt out of Faves, and re-sign him to put us over the cap so we can use the MLE?

Pretty sure no since we’d have opted out of him but...

I think yes, but he would have to clear the waiver and then we could negotiate. But in the mean time any team could pick him up for his current contract.

Why would Grizz do this? I feel that they are just waiting on other teams to join the chase right now because even as a jazz fan myself, I'm not convinced on Grizz buying into any of Korver, Exum, Allen, etc.

1) To save themselves about 40M in salary the next two years.
2) To suck worse and get a higher pick next year—this should be one of their two main goals.
3) To fully turn the keys over to the youngsters and let them develop—this is the other.
4) To get something for Conley now before the point of no return has been reached.

Ummm Joe Johnson? I get your point about Boozer and Okur, but Joe Johnson barely played after we traded him to Houston. He was just happy to get a 2 year deal

there is no one who we can realistically put on the table that are both valuable enough to raise other teams interests, and we as jazzfans will be happy to let go.

we played one more round of playoffs basketball because of him though. but i see what you are saying.

DL honestly needs to do better in FA. he can't just turn his head and resign everyone back once someone like KD or Kawhi decided not to come here. FA is much more than that.

Boozer and Okur weren't elite free agents dude. Blue collar at the most
Joe Johnson was has been isojoe at the time.

Time will tell with point 3, still won't amount to anything substantial.

Well, you did say "big name free agents" I liked Joe Johnson when he was on the Jazz, but he wasnt a big name free agent at that stage of his career
