What's new

Jazz @ Hawks, Feb. 6th 7:30 EST

Go Jazz! Big chance to make a statement! Hawks are the 5th seed in the east at 30-21. Go into their house and take that W and show you can beat good teams on the road. Just like the SA game.

Jazz need to start winning some games against playoff teams on a more consistent basis to be taken seriously. I know they are getting hype, but they have lost a lot of games against playoff teams. With Atlanta currently sitting in the 5th position in the east it would help give a little more street cred prior to the break. Also, I hate injuries.

Utah has dropped the last three or so small-statement games, so I worry with you. Just nervous, but not without hope.

Our last game against a good team with a healthy roster was Cleveland. I would call that a statement game. We did win our last two games including a playoff team (albeit not a good one.) We did lose to the Griz and OKC which were disappointing but we also missing starters in both of those games. The OKC game was one of the most disapointing losses of the season because we were so close and most of us dislike them.

These are the type of games I mean with "small statement." We're still without a starter now--Hood--and a hobbled starter, Favors. I imagine small statement games to be against a team with a comparable record to ours, comparable level of play, a difficult but not mostly impossible matchup. High tier teams who aren't the Spurs or Warriors, in other words. With all our injuries it's actually difficult to predict how we'll do in these games. Upcoming small statement games include Boston, Clippers (sorta, Paul is out), and OKC. (Dallas on the road, considering their recent play, nears small statement imo.)

I agree. Not to mention it's a road game. I'd be stunned if we won the next three. We will lose one of them, definitely.
