What's new

Jazz @ Hornets

Hood is in CJ Miles territory right now. His form looks so damn good and I'll bet he's money in practice. But he just can't translate that to games consistently. It's maddening!

But have patience. He has about 1yr of game experience deducting all the time he missed last season. He's at 41%/35%. I think he has the potential to shoot 40%+ on his 3's. But he's also adjusting to a bigger role and averaging almost 10 mins more per game than he played last season. I'm not ready to give up on him yet,

It is maddening, but lets give him more than 2 years to work on consistency. We know the talent is there. What I want to see is him improve a little each year.
In the meantime Jazz do need to add a vet shooter who can help this team.

Charlotte announcers going on about how Utah "passes without purpose". First in passes, last in assists.

Honestly this is the truth. Watching the Jazz it seems their passing is often pointless. They just keep passing to guys who aren't getting open, or won't take the shot if they are open, or will take the shot but suck as shooters. I mean why even bother to pass out to Booker for an open 3 that he will miss? Why do the guys who are decent shooters pass up shots and give the ball to someone who can't shoot but will have to shoot because the clock is running out?

It is a product of our "modern NBA" offense. I'm so tired of pick and roll at the top of the key with 3 players standing around.

Hoods 10 to 15 footer is money. He does not consistently put good arc on his 3 point attempts...

I think Hood needs to focus on having a quick release when he gets into a shooting slump. It seems to me that when he gets into a slump he starts concentrating too much on his shot, trying to get in rhythm, and aiming too much. He ends up releasing the ball late which forces his arms to do more of the shooting than they should. It seems like a lot of players do this when they should just shoot it and let their instincts take over.

Shaun Livingston

I'm not so sure I'm ready to hang my hat on that.

You know Shaun Livingston never reached his potential because of horrific injuries? It would suck if he follows a Livingston path of early career debilitating injuries.

This.

Well, considering that Utah almost beat the Warriors to stop their win streak and has gotten annihilated by the Spurs, I'd much rather see them play GS. Tonight, GS shot something like 65% in the first half. When a team does that, you just tip your hat and say "great job." I watched a good portion of the game and the Cavs just looked slow. I think that's where Utah matches up better. Favors and Gobert actually switch pretty well and do it quickly. Cavs were burned time and time again against their bigs,

No, Utah would not win a series against the W's. But I think Utah COULD win a game. Against SA, I see Utah not even coming within 15 pts. Despite having 6 losses against only 4 for the W's, SA is on pace to have the best season defensively ever in the modern era.

We were full strength against GSW, weren't with the Spurs.

Spurs matchup is easier for us.
