JAZZ LAKERS EPSN GAME #2

Playing a "contender" on the road before the Jazz get their new pieces figured out, you can't really be too mad about the Jazz losing this one.

If they win, however, the Lakers are going to be facing some seriously delicious scrutiny sitting at 0-2. I don't really think their team is built to handle that very well.

So, I opt for the second choice.

Clippers have better fours/wings to guard LeBron and AD with though. We can put Royce on LeBron... Rudy on AD but then Rudy can’t help and Bojan or Ingles (maybe Jeff and Royce start) are guarding Howard or McGee... both are morons but will likely get some easy baskets off rim running and offensive rebounding. If they go with the post offense the. We should be fine... I think they went to that because Clips were switching so well.

One of these teams doesn’t matchup well against the other... not sure who has the advantage.

I think Lebron can go for 40 and the Jazz still win. You just have to hold the roleplayers down. I think the Jazz have the tools to do that.

So I think we may experiment with a couple ways to defend the Lakers main lineups... this one may become a loss as Lakers look to bounce back and likely have more urgency... we may treat this like the opening round of a boxing match and just feel stuff out. These guys can cause some issues for us if Vogel uses the pieces right. I think we have to shoot well to win this one. If we make Howard and McGee ineffective I think we actually matchup better when the Lakers go small with AD at center.

Gonna be an interesting one.
Plus if the Lakers lose they would be 0-2. The NBA does not want that to happen.
I have a feeling we will see some strong home cooking by the refs tonight.

Rudy gonna be in foul trouble all night. Booker it.

I wouldn't be surprised if we start Green at the 4 tonight just to give us a little more length.

we gonna try some stuff I’m sure.

No excuses, we are better than the Lakers and I expect Jazz to win.
We are figuring things out, but so are they. Taking advantage of their bench will be key, but so will hard defense and putting pressure on them offensively (don't let them be comfortable on either side of the ball). Our coach is better and so is our scheme. If we are real contenders this is the type of game we should win.

One thing I do know @infection will cite our need to get Marcus Morris at some point... I know he’s moved on but I want to keep the joke/love affair alive.

Early season litmus test! Jazz are officially 4 point underdogs. If the Jazz win despite having a discombobulated offense, it will get the attention of all Jazz fanz that we are headed for a great year! Our new point guard is certainly not going to shoot 2-16 again, is he? Anything less than 20 team assists will be disappointing to me. If the Jazz lose and have 15 or less assists, I will be calling for the immediate return of Rubio!

I actually think Bojan and Royce can do a solid job on LeBron... Rudy can give AD some issues... I guess if Royce or Bojan have to guard Howard or McGee and they beat you then you’ve done your job? Maybe Rudy guards the center and you put Bojan on AD and funnel him to Rudy. I don’t think Bojan will be terrible in the post on defense... I think he can hold his ground somewhat.

maybe just use a zone scheme and make em beat you from the outside.

this will be a tough one... they have a lot of plus defenders in the starting lineup and if LeBron is locked in we may be in trouble.

we will need to shoot well and the bench will need to outplay the Lakers bench to win... definitely doable. I think we are the underdog tonight but we shall see.

What do the Lakers do about Donovan? They don't really have anything that will amount to a speed bump for him.
