Jazz Offseason Plan

Zero chance we re-sign Conley if we get Lonzo. Lonzo is the replacement plan. Clarkson/Favors/30 would certainly help with cap relief.

If Lonzo signed for 20M we would be comfortably under the luxury cap by around 8M. Anything less than that and it goes up by more which is a plus.

Clarkson/Favors/30 for Lonzo and then use the full MLE to bring in a wing. That might be realistic best case scenario for us.
I was just wanting to re-sign Conley so we would have an asset. But you're right, he's probably gone.

I don't think we can trade #30 for Lonzo because free agency is after the draft right? We would be drafting a player well before Lonzo could even negotiate with us right?

We can't accept a player that is signed and traded. We will be over the apron... even if Mike leaves we'd be close. I'm not sure what's really in it for them but they did do the Adams deal last summer which made no damn sense.
So we can't legally do it, or we shouldn't do it because it hard caps us?

We most definitely can if we send some salary out as well.

The apron is around 140M.

We are sitting at around 130M without Conley.

Clarkson and Favors combine for 22M.

We could send Clarkson/Favors out and take back 22M at the most while still being under the luxury tax by 6M and the apron by 10M.

For some reason, everything I see with Lonzo rumors are sign-and-trades. Griffen isn't going to lose him for nothing since Lonzo is a restricted free agent. I don't know if Griffen wants to keep Lonzo long term so a trade makes sense.

Well we can’t use the MLE if we take someone back in a sign-and-trade so that is something we need to think about as well.

So is it possible for us to sign and trade Conley out

then

Sign and trade Lonzo in?

Two separate deals

I think so but we couldn’t take back more than like 8M in the Conley deal if we wanted to stay under the luxury tax.

So essentially use whatever we get back from a Conley trade as our MLE.

We are at 136M without Conley. Do the sign and trade and you are at 136M with like 11ish players... you could fill out the roster maybe but likely need to move some stuff around.

I just don't think he wants to come here and the mechanics would get pretty tough to make it all work. I also don't think Lonzo minus Conley, JC, Favs makes us better. Its an okay option if Mike leaves and NY isn't rolling out 25M for Lonzo I guess.

Ideas on the easiest way to get Kyle Anderson as our starting 4 next season?

Assuming Mitchell/O'Neale/Gobert aren't moved.

If you look at the 2nd round of the playoffs, Lonzo for Conley, Clarkson and Favors would have been an improvement for us. I think we need to look at next year AND think about the next 3 or 4 years. Lonzo is a foundational piece with Don.

We would struggle to find another good player, but our playoff starting lineup is so much better with Lonzo, Don, Royce, Bojan and Rudy. Joe back as 6th man.

What am I missing… I’m seeing our salary at 130M without Conley.

If you assume Mike is out then yes Lonzo might be an improvement over JC (who was up and down). I don't know that you can assume that with Lonzo anymore than you can with Mike. He misses a bunch of games every year.
