Out of the PG's, I only see Knight as a "possible" impact starter (well, not including Irving, but he's going #1 or #2 via trade). I see Kemba as a 2nd-tier starter. Jimmer is instant scoring off the bench, but probably never a quality starter. Best situation for him would be Phoenix or New York.
"I think we're in a great position to get a couple of great players — good players now that can become great players as they go forward," said Ty Corbin, who'll be going into his first draft as the team's head coach. "But I am pleased with the level of talent that we've seen come through here.
"You see some guys make plays and you're like, 'Wow, that's a little bit above-average.' If they can continue to do that, then they have a chance to be more than just an average player in this league."
To me that sounds like Corbin knows the Jazz are looking at guys who have significant upside. That doesn't sound like Jimmer to me. Fredette is a good player now who will probably still be a good player as he goes forward. There will be no significant jump in skill level.
Knight or Kanter fit the "good players now that can become great players as they go forward" description. At #12, that might be Singleton or someone entirely unexpected.
If Knight is the chose one, I'm in favor of trading down a couple of spots and picking up an additional asset. Since Cleveland won't be drafting Knight after choosing Irving at #1, deals can probably be worked out with Toronto or Washington. That is, unless Minny goes with Kanter over DWill2. Gotta admit I'm torn on Kanter - definitely a high-risk/high-reward player.
