Jazz Play The Clippers in about 2 Hours: A Gamethread

Favors' passing is looking good too.

With Favors/Gobert we could have a defensive WALL with good court vision... they both just need to keep expanding their offensive repertoires for the pairing to really work. But I think they'll get there.

Not sure how Kanter fits into the equation. A lot of it will probably depend on how much he's offered this summer. If it's around 10M, then I think the best scenario might be to trade him for assets or a good vet (not sure who) before its time to extend Rudy. Or maybe we'll get lucky and somehow manage to keep all three bigs going forward.

I must admit I'm loving that Gobert is getting DESERVED minutes. I hated watching Kanter and Favors under Corbin.

At 10m a year, he's worth keeping as a third big.

He is getting a little more crafty in the paint, that's about the best compliment I can give him.

If he starts to limit himself to 8-10 shots per game, and takes them when they are open, I think he will be a better player in the short term while he develops his driving game. Practicing against Gobert will be a huge boon in developing develop his "craftiness." His vision is improving when he lifts his head up.

But with Burks already signed at 10M a year (and looking better in a 6th man role) we could potentially be spending 20+ million on two bench players. Seems pretty extravagant. But maybe it's manageable under the new, expanding salary cap.

It was nice to see that stretch with Gobert and Favors. The clips announcers seemed excited to see that lineup as well.

I expected him to struggle. I warned people around here that if they expected him to be a monster from the very first season they didn't have realistic expectations. I just didn't expect him to struggle THIS WAY. I expected him having trouble finishing around the rim because of lack of experience and strength, not because he'd be scared ****less to even drive to the rim. I expected him to make a ton of TO because of probing the defenses and making some stupid passes that he can learn from. In other words, I expected him to struggle while trying, not to struggle without even trying to push himself.

One thing that I am curious to see is how he eventually becomes more aggressive. You have guys that are naturally aggressive or at least not afraid to take semi rushed shots, see Kobe and Michael Carter Williams 2/20. Exum doesn't try to push the envelope at all, since he is by nature a perfectionist. He doesn't want to be that guy to screw things up. I hope he starts taking more risks around the basket and driving the ball. With his ability to see the court, he could be special if he could use his speed to create.
