Jazz players at the World Cup

I think Hayward will make the team, but I think he's the 11th or 12th man. I trust Hayward to make the right play, to do things like rebound and lead a break, to get a step off the dribble against opposing forwards and make a good pass, to play decent defense and to blend in as a decent athlete. He's just a bit more smooth and skilled overall compared to Parsons.

I think Korver gets cut because he's basically a spot-up shooter and USA doesn't need another of those with Curry, Thompson and Harden on the roster.

I think Parsons gets cut because his game isn't as well rounded to complement the other players and DeRozan seems the better defender.

I think Lillard gets cut unless Rose withdraws, in part because Steph Curry can also play PG, and Lillard seems to be the odd man out.

I think either Drummond or Plumlee gets cut, and they'll have to duke it out. (See what I did there?)

I think DeRozan, Hayward and the 3rd big are the end of the bench. I'm not 100% sold on Faried, but I see that he gives us energy and boards, and he's a bit different from the rest of the players.

He probably won't make it. Coach K doesn't trust to bring him in until they have a 40 point lead on the Dominican Republic....pretty clear sign.
Either way its not a big deal. All the US games up until the medal game will be uncompetitive blowouts like this one and not resemble anything close to a real NBA game.
Little over a month til training camp.

I am worried that our exhibition game and pool play games will not prepare the team very well for the elimination games. Brazil was decent, Slovenia is ok, and Turkey may give us a run for a while but otherwise no good competition til the end.

I desperately want Hayward to make the team but my hope for that is all but gone.

What will change if he makes it? I mean... we saw that it's not like he's going to get any minutes even if he makes it. He's probably going to play 10 minutes against the absolute outsiders and won't sniff the floor in the eliminations stage of the tournament.

I think going against those guys in practice will help him grow his game.

Hayward is just below average to just above average in everything he does, he has no elite skills. On teams like this you need to excel at something as everyone needs to play to their strengths. You either have to be a good shooter, good rebounder, good at running the play and setting up teammates, good shot blocker, good at driving and drawing fouls, or defensive specialist. Just my opinion.

That game will be finished like 125-50 or something. The worst Turkish NT of all times. Kanter made a good decision this time after everything.
