Jazz Players Defend Kanter and Say He was NOT a Cancer

I don't think Kanter was a locker-room cancer. The dude seemed awkward and distant with his teammates outside of his sometimes goofy demeanor. From what I read, Kanter never developed any personal relationships with anyone on the team so he was just kind of outside on his own all the time (through his choice,, remember all the reports that he was constantly on his cellphone his rookie year and didn't really talk to anyone). That probably created a slightly weird atmosphere in the locker-room. Now that he is gone, everyone is pretty much cool and seems to be friendly on a level outside of just playing basketball.

Good assessment.
Seems like this group is pretty tight. I was never really mad about Kanter asking for a trade. And maybe he and Ergul felt they HAD to go public since they had allegedly been asking for a trade for a couple of seasons. It was the way he left and slamming his teammates, coaches, fans, etc. that got me upset.

Those guys have my back and their teammates back, so I'll be damned if I don't have their back as well. I guess you can make a different choice if you want. . .

This only applies for someone who is truly a fan of the franchise.

What does it tell you about Kanter that Utah traded him to a division rival for essentially nothing.

You're telling me NY wouldn't want to give up a couple second rounders for him? Orlando? Washington?

I think DL traded him to OKC to sabotage that team.

I don't think so. What framer said was assuming the person he was speaking to us a fan of the jazz and not just an individual player. There are many fans of players that couldn't care less what franchise they play for. The way framer phrased that it only really applies to fans of the jazz not fans of the jazz while player X is playing in Utah.
