Jazz Pre-Draft Workouts

I don't think a single workout for a single team will affect opinions of many GMs even if Jimmer destroyed Knight/Walker. How will they know this actually happened?
So this will only solidify Jimmer's position on Jazz's board and they will take him with 12th without much noise.

And another thought from me: if Jimmer was African-American, would he be considered among the best players available in this draft? Are white guys discriminated against by NBA scouts? I mean, it seems to me that most Caucasian players are consistently undervalued by NBA scouts, whether from the athletic or overall potential POV. To me, Gordon Hayward seems pretty athletic while possessing a lot of potential. I think most would agree with me. However, websites like NBAdraft.net ranked his athleticism at a 7, his defense at a 6, and his quickness at a 6. From watching Gordon play against other NBA players, these numbers seem to be highly inconsistent with his actual abilities. They did rank his potential at an 8. I have to give them credit for that. Speaking of NBAdraft.net, they now have Kanter going #1 overall to Cleveland, Minnesota taking Williams at #2, and us taking Kyrie Irving at #3.

I don't think Jimmer is being discriminated against. Is there a bias because he is white? For some people but if there are any GMs who allow racial bias to cloud their judgement then I would think they wouldn't last too long. Their job is to pick the player who they think will have the best career.

The fans are different because they get all emotional about their decision. I have heard some fans that don't want to pick a player because he isn't American or he isn't black. Some fans don't want a certain black player because he is too street so their will always be bias when it comes to certain fans.

If Jimmer were being truly discriminated against he wouldn't be allowed to play in the NBA.

I maintain to this day that if Hayward were black and Evan Turner were white, they would have swapped places last year in the draft.

I realize Butler did make a run in the tourney, but the level of competition Ohio State faced was much tougher throughout Turner's career. Evan was a top lottery pick regardless of color. Hayward's performance in the tourney vaulted him up quite a few notches. Of course, it was also belief by KOC that Gordon could be a SG. I wonder had Utah not taken Hayward where he would have gone. Maybe in the late teens?

Good chance he was going to go #10 to Indiana. And I stand by my statement. Turner put up good numbers, but there were a lot of questions about what position he would play, as well as a lot of doubt about his jumpshot. I thought he'd be decent, but no way did I think he was a top #2 pick especially with Cousins and Favors sitting there. But maybe it was just me that skeptical.

I agree that lack of a consistent jump shot hurts Turner, but he has great feel for the game and handle. The jump shot should come along once his confidence is up. I think he would have a great rookie to soph jump if Iguodala is indeed shipped out of Philly.

I like Turner, and I may have layed on the hyperbole a little thick, but all in all I thought (before the draft) he probably should have gone #4 draft.

Well there were questions about Cousins, Favor, and Turner. A lot of it has to do with team need and what one team's opinion is about a player. I am not discounting there is a racial bias on both sides but again if as a GM you carry that bias you will not be a GM very long.

Disagree - Turner was a bigtime player at OSU and his production in 09-10 often dwarfed Hayward's at Butler. Still think Turner will be a fine pro - although I'd like to see Philly move Iggy for a 2 who can stretch the floor.

Sounds like Bismack bombed his workout. Missing nearly all his jumpshots, airballing lay-ups, he was very nervous.

How far does he fall?
