What's new

Jazz @ Sacramento Kings 4/3/2011, 4pm MT

I'm guessing most of you either are in church or don't care so I'll do the game thread.
I was actually on the bus on the way to work when the game started, I think, but list me under "don't care" anyway.

Jazz vs Kings for what willl probably be one of the last professional basketball games played in Sacramento.
Technically, as the participants are renumerated, this game qualifies for the adjective "professional", but in all other ways it does not.

Jazz clearly playing for the #12 seed and I think someone told Corbin before the game that Sacramento has a shot at catching New Jersey.

Is Utah the worst team in the league right now? Certainly seems so. Well, maybe slightly ahead of the Cavs.

Wow, lol game's over (already).

So did anyone actually watch this game? Kyle Weaver sure had a nice boxscore...

I did. He looked pretty good. He has a pretty nice shot. He definitely looks better than Price, is bigger, and plays under control. Defensively I didn't notice anything either way (great or bad), but did alright. CJ was clanking shot after shot and got pulled for Weaver.

I definitely think Weaver will be on the Jazz roster next year; if not, then it's because he is on another team with a better contract.

I get angrier each time I think about Corbin getting an extension. He is not ready to be an NBA coach. Seems like a good guy and I wish he got a shot somewhere else. We need an experienced vet like Jeff Van Gundy with this team. Is there anyway KOC can fire Corbin if we lose out?

So Van Gundy would have won the championship with three rookies and a D-League callup playing at the same time?

Nice game.
The Jazz did their part, now we need the Kings to do their part, and the Nets to lose out so we have a good shot at the 5, and a better % of a 1,2, or 3.
Go rigged lottery.

Too add to that, I know I didn't want a retread coach and no high profile coach was going to come here so I'm fine with Corbin growing with this young team probably even getting younger next year, let them grow bond, go through the ups & downs together. Who knows how Corbin will turn out but every coach had to start some time.

As maddening as it was to watch Millsap continuously attempting to guard Cousins during the game, after the game I hoped it was because there was a chance Sacto could catch NJ and more so to show/prove that Millsap as good as he is and as hard as he plays should be the 6th man (more comparable to Odom then Terry).

I don't get the Jeff Van Gundy love at all. How come every time someone expresses dissatisfaction with a Jazz coach they want JVG as the replacement? I'd rather listen to him on broadcasts. A lot of people might not realize this, but JVG and Sloan and a lot more successful coaches were once struggling new guys. Give Corbin a chance. The deck hasn't exactly been stacked in his favor so far.

Only the following Jazz players seemed to play consistently hard: Weaver, Watson, Hayward, Evans and Favors.

Weaver looked a lot more comfortable. His 3pt catch and shoot stroke looked very good. His pull game from 15 looks like is still needs work but defensively he did some good work.

He's the next Sundiata.
He would have been a folk hero if he would have hit a huge game winning 3 to beat the dreaded Sacto Emperors.
