What does being a top 5 draft pick have anything to do with it? You should want the best team on the court...
 
Gotta love his spirit. Going to bat for his boy, but he's delusional. Exum could be a generational talent if he works his *** off to get better and bring the offensive game people expected when he was drafted to go along with his phenomenal perimeter defense. Cotton might end up being better than Burke, Neto and Hanlan long term, but he's not going to start/play over Exum or Burks.

Our previous coach, Steve Donahue, wasn't able to recruit a lot of talent to Chestnut Hill, but Hanlan's play was a bright spot in an otherwise dreary several years on the Heights. It was clear from Day 1 that Hanlan was the best guy on the roster, and opposing defenses reacted accordingly. And on some nights it simply didn't matter. He had a lot of great games (ten threes on route to a record 41 points in his first ACC Tourney appearance), hit some clutch baskets, and was by all accounts a great guy both in the locker room and around campus. I don't know that he'll make the team given the talent the Jazz already have in the backcourt, but I think he could find a spot in the league as a offensive spark off the bench. In my opinion, he has a better feel for the game - in that he knows his strengths and weaknesses - than our last NBA prospect, Reggie Jackson, but obviously Hanlan doesn't have the same super athleticism that made Jackson such a highly-touted draft prospect back in 2011. I'll make sure to watch his debut in y'all's new summer league next month.

Yo! Thanks for posting. Looks like you've been a Jazz fan for a while now...at least during those great years. Anwyay, thanks for the info on Hanlan. I'm hoping he's successful and turns out to be a diamond for our franchise.
 
Hanlan hasn't looked like an NBA player so far... I hope he turns it around in Vegas, otherwise he'd be playing in the D-League next year.

To be fair, and I mentioned it in another thread, he's playing out of position. He's only ever played point in his life and the Jazz are playing almost entirely off the ball. The transition is tough enough just going from college to the NBA, and then when you are forced to play a completely different position (and it's not like it's 2 to 3 or 4 to 5), multiply that difficulty by two. If they wanted a two, they should have drafted a two rather than a point. They are putting him firmly behind the 8 ball based on the first two games here.

For Hanlan's sake, my hope is that the Jazz don't give a rat's *** how he plays in Summer league, they are confident he can play the point and make the team as a PG, that they are just using SL to give him practice at the two knowing they may need him there during the season.

Agreed. Otherwise they should have thrown some picks and cash to move up for either Richaun Holmes or Pat Connaughton. If they want Hanlan as a 2, they wasted the pick.
