Jazz shopping Al Jefferson?

Just because there are rumors (or even actual discussions) doesn't mean he's being 'shopped.' Maybe he is, but obviously KOC is going to listen to the proposals of any team interested in Al. There are teams that need bigs and it's obvious the Jazz have a full stable .. would give the appearance of a good trade partner, no?

I hope so. There are rumors about a Rondo trade. I would trade Devin Harris and Al Jefferson for Rondo in some kind of three team trade or take someone else back. Or maybe for Josh smith. Rumors are he isn't happy. Or get a unprotected first round pick from someone. We need to trade him before the league figures out he's an offense killer and can't run or defend the pick and roll. All he has is back to the basket.

Williams went to New Jersey and made Kris Humphries look like an All-star running the pick and roll. Now we have a point guard (Harris) and Al Jefferson that can't run it at all. We have to fix this problem.

I'd say keep Al this season as we'll need as many forwards as we can get.

But I'd be open to trading him just before the trade dateline and by the end of the season:

1) Start Favors at C
2) Start Millsap at PF
3) Back up: Kanter, Okur and Evans (with a view of starting Kanter at PF next year).

You would give all that up for rondo? Go kick rocks.

Banging a kardashian makes you an all star. Have you seen Reggie bushes numbers since he got it in?

If Al is dealt then he better net us a nice return. Maybe we would get a big offer from one of the teams who misses out on Howard if he is traded. It could be the DWill situation all over again. Team misses out on their primary target(Nets and Crymello) and we secretly discuss a deal for Jefferson in this case. I am definitely not advocating we trade him. Just saying that if a deal too good to be true is offered, then we take it.

Sorry I was meant to say that we need as many PF/C as we can get with all the back-to-back-to-back's that we'll be facing..
Again, that is the only thing the Jazz have as a strength. To the point that it's a weakness (logjam).

I think he'd have more value as an expiring contract that can play, but he's certainly available for the right price.

I don't think you can have too many bigs especially in the coming season where those games will be very tough for the likes of Jefferson, Millsap and Okur. Last year our bigs struggled big time: Elson, Okur, AK and Millsap being injured at one time or another. I remembered us having to sign someone on a 10 day contract just to cover.

I think the schedule this year will be even tougher on these guys' bodies and I think it'll only take either Jefferson or Millsap being injured for us to be in trouble.

The thread title could easily be changed to "Every single Jazz player is being shopped." I wouldn't be surprised if any player on our roster got dealt.

But for what it's worth, the tax penalties (if I understand the new CBA correctly) don't kick in until year 3. So a guy like Al, or even Sap and Harris, won't hurt a team more than the traditional 1 for 1 tax hit since they all come off the books before year 3. That definitely makes them more tradeable.

Good point.

Sorry I was meant to say that we need as many PF/C as we can get with all the back-to-back-to-back's that we'll be facing..

Numberica is right, we are already loaded with PFs, and actually there isn't only real C, even Memo is a more PF than C just like Big Al. I would be pleased to see Big Al leaving and get a back up C (not so good but not as bad as Fes)

??? And you think somehow KOC can just swap our "PFs" for good quality C's just like that? Good quality C is arguably the hardest position to fill in the NBA. Just look at this year's crop of FA's and the likely rate:

Marc Gasol - max. deal
Chandler - close to max. deal
Nene - close to max. deal
etc, etc

You have to either over pay in FA or get lucky in the draft.

Now considering who we have:

Jefferson - OK he's not the perfect C, but he's said himself that he's a C and he's "OK" playing a C.
Kanter - He's a bit short for a C and doesn't quite have the athleticism, but he has played C before and who knows how he'll develop?
Favors - He's got the defense ability and athleticism to play C - may be he's an inch too short? I see a lot of potential though.
Okur - Played C most of his time in the NBA. Has the height but not the defense or post play to play C.

I'm not happy with all the "PFs" in the team neither, but if you think some GM will happily take on Jefferson and give us a quality C I think you must be dreaming. And if you're thinking about trading Jefferson for a back up C - then which of the "PFs" would you want starting at C?

Llooking at who we've got I think Favors has the most potential going forward. He has the ability, athleticism and reach to play C. So why don't we be patient for a while this season and see how they develop?
